Haus Berkelmann — Restaurant in Ottersberg

The location and atmosphere of Berkelmann are amazing. You will see people who grew up in the village drinking beer or dining at the restaurant next to travelers from all over the world. The food is outstanding, whether you're having a snack, lunch, breakfast, dinner or large banquet. There are several different rooms in which you can dine, as in an old house, and when the weather is nice, you can also enjoy dining across the street in their beautiful garden right next to the town's tiny old church. The service and management are very professional, and they can help you organize your outings, if you don't know the area -- such as the Otto Modersohn Museum or the Clara Rilke Haus in Fischerhude, or in the neighboring town of Worpswede. This village was already a favorite among artists and writers before 1900, and today it is still a gem. Many people from Bremen go there for walking or biking, or a quick weekend getaway. At Berkelmann, the rooms are large and clean. Am vorletzten Wochenende wollten meine Frau und ich einfach nur ein schönes Wochenende in Fischerhude genießen, um mal den Alltagsstress hinter uns zu lassen. Für eine Übernachtung hatten wir uns das Haus Berkelmann ausgesucht – übrigens zum 5. Mal. Als wir unser Gepäck ins Haus brachten, haben wir direkt vor dem Hotel geparkt. Dort hat der Bürgersteig, der ohne Abgrenzungslinie mit der Straße ineinander übergeht, eine Breite von 3,19 m. So hatten wir dadurch nicht bemerkt, dass wir um eine halbe Radbreite auf dem sehr breiten Gehweg standen. Was aber das gesamte Personal im Haus Berkelmann weiß, dass es eine Mitarbeiterin beim „Flecken Ottersberg“ (Ordnungsamt) gibt, die nur auf solche „Verstöße“ wartet. So fanden wir nach unserer Rückkehr ein „Knöllchen“, mit dem uns angezeigt wurde, dass wir ein Verwarngeld bekommen würden. Das kam dann gestern – und es wurde gleich die Höchstsumme von 55 Euro in Ansatz gebracht. Da das gesamte Personal im Haus Berkelmann über diese Gepflogenheiten Bescheid weiß und wohl immer wieder Gäste darauf hereinfallen, würde es für uns zum SERVICE gehören, dass man bei der Ankunft die Gäste darauf hinweist. Das ist leider nicht geschehen! So endete unser nur sehr knapp bemessene Aufenthalt von Samstagnachmittag bis Sonntagvormittag in Fischerhude sehr, sehr teuer. Denn das schon in die Jahre gekommene Haus Berkelmann ist mit einer Übernachtungsgebühr von 110 Euro auch nicht gerade ein Schnäppchen. In einem 4 Sterne Hotel in Berlin nahe dem Kudamm haben wir für eine Übernachtung 130 Euro bezahlt. Und das Frühstück, das in Fischerhude – im Gegensatz zu vor 2 Jahren mit Büfett – auch nicht gerade üppig ausgefallen ist, sondern normal – wie zu Hause eben -, hinterließ ebenfalls einen bitteren Beigeschmack.
