I really don't want to be mean, but all people rating this restaurant 5 star, have no idea what quality is. For work, I eat in restaurants 150 times a year (the last 17 years). The quality of the steak I ate was low. Thus, the meat, not the cooking. The steak knive was blunt, this combination made cutting a struggle. Techno music was playing the first 45 minutes, then it thankfully changed to pop music. The toilets were not clean. The bench was so far from the table that one sits bent forwards while eating, which is simply uncomfortable.
What was cool, is all that American muscle cars (of customers) in the car park. I visited on a Sunday. They should only allow American cars on the parking spots in front of the windows. That would have made the dining experience better (without costing them anything!
In any case, this place was full of fairly young people who probably don't care about any of the things I wrote and that's OK. This place doesn't need to improve itself. There was a queue when we arrived and the place full the whole time...
Read moreAs an American I feel obligated to write a review. We went here as we've never seen it and another American friend and I were excited when we saw that they had Milkshakes.
The staff and place is super polite/nice. The look and feel is genuinely great and the staff could not be nicer. The food was where the problem started.
Burgers: They taste like frozen sausage patties. Anytime you're not asked how you would like your burger cooked, not good. These burgers tasted pretty much like a low quality sausage patty from Waffle House (not good stuff).
Milkshakes: I got the Vanilla while my friend, the Chocolate. We tried eachothers and it was equally disappointing. They were better than the Burgers in 'comparison' to actual foods but it was definitely the standard German Milkshake which isn't horrible, just not the same.
Nice place and fun time if you're wanting to get a bit of a glimpse of a Diner experience but sadly not a good taste comparison. 3 Stars for the...
Read moreEvery time I drive north on the A1, I make sure to stop at Daisy’s Diner for the love of opulent American food and atmosphere.
The last time I overdid it though. I ordered the famous BLT sandwich which is absolutely incredible, served with great fries and an interesting cole slaw salad.
So far so good. I was full and happy. Somehow my inner voice longed for a milk shake for dessert though and I ordered a “Michael Shakeson”, on of the special shakes you can order there.
Little did I know that this shake itself can be considered a full meal. It was also one of the best shakes I’ve ever tasted, so I drank the whole of it and made satisfied noises while doing so.
When I got up and rolled myself back into the car, I knew I made a horrible mistake. The rest of the trip I felt so stuffed and drifted off into a food-comatose haze.
That is when I finally knew what being an American must feel...
