I was there for the duck and Riesling, food is nice, tho I expected the duck could be a bit more tender. However while the food deserves a 4-5 star, there’s one unpleasant thing just ruined the entire dinner.

There are many Asian waitresses, one of them came to me and asked where I was from. My German is not very good, so in order to avoid unnecessary misunderstanding, I asked her if she could speak in English for the small talk. Then she asked one colleague to help her translate, till now everything was fine, I thought she just wanna show some kindness to another Asian girl. But just after knowing I’m from China, she immediately walked away, laughed, and speak with her colleague in German loudly to judge me. It’s very confusing and unbelievable impolite.

I think this lady didn’t even recognize how rude her behavior was. Just because I am a Asian girl without speaking fluent German, doesn’t mean that you have right to throw one question and ignore me directly afterwards. I wish she could understand that I was a guest in your restaurant and you came to disturb my dinner just like I was a stranger on the street. I’m not sure if the waitress is racist or just have no manners, but I hope she doesn’t forget that she’s Asian too.

The setting is exceptionally beautiful, inside the restaurant it is spacious and well lit, the seats by windows with views to the lake are splendid. The food is really well prepared, I tried one of the Klassiker from their menu, a Rumpsteak with Kräuterbutter, tender very well seasoned, not visible in the picture the potato wedges were really good with the barbecue sauce. Located just a few minutes with a beautiful drive through the Wildpark and the Forest that connects Pforzheim and Tiefenbronn the restaurant is a high end experience of German specialties from the area. Also interesting the Biergarten, very extensive surrounding the restaurant building, very nice tables, self-service without any need to go inside the restaurant, it seems like a fantastic option for a cold beer and some nice food while hiking...

Got the surf n turf. Was pretty good. Great flavor. Medium was more like medium well. Portion could have been a bit larger though. Nice patio. Came with fries potatoes. Swapped the spinach for mixed veggies. Had vanilla ice cream and strawberries and coffee for dessert.
