Overall I was pleased, but did feel slightly let down by the service and attention to detail.
Details: The food was fantastic. In particular, the tasting menu included a course of sashimi and another course of quail and both were spectacular. Have talked about those courses for days afterwards. The only complaint about the food was that there were 2 courses of desserts that, although tasted good, were both an ice cream. This was then followed by a "surprise" extra dessert course that wasn't an ice cream, but was in the same family of foods. We both felt like a little more variety with the desserts would have been welcomed rather than back-to-back-to-back, essentially, ice cream dishes.
The service is where I felt the restaurant gets 4 stars rather than 5. When I made the reservation I made a note that we were celebrating our anniversary and would like a "more private table" if something like this was possible. The table we received was fine, but it didn't feel like the special request was read as we were seated at a table right next to the door to the restaurant that everybody walks in and out. Not very private. Additionally, when we have dined at other fine dining establishments and made special notes like this one, the staff have made a point to make the evening special in small gestures. In very small ways like even just wishing a happy anniversary to the guests or something. You can go to any other restaurant and if you mention you are celebrating your anniversary the chef might even make a gesture of writing "happy anniversary" on the plate in chocolate. With only 4 or 5 tables the evening we dined, we didn't think our special notes would be lost on the staff.
We also received one menu in English and one menu in German but the menus didn't match. The German menu was more accurate to what was actually being served. For example, the German menu stated that Salmon would be one of the courses whereas the English menu said it would be Monkfish. The German menu had a vegetarian menu option on the back, the English menu didn't mention a vegetarian option at all.
Overall, I felt like a general lack of attention to details was missing from the staff that could make this restaurant extraordinary to match the food and ambiance.
edit I also forgot to mention the restaurant only accepts German EC cards or cash. Personally, I find this a bit odd as you are most likely going to spend a few hundred Euro minimum for your meal here. Having to either be expected to have that kind of cash or drawing out that amount of cash to carry in for this meal is a bit archaic. Unfortunately, this isn't a unique thing in Germany, but for a meal that requires this quantity of cash notes,...
Read moreWhat an amazing place, from start to finish we were completely satisfied with the staff, environment, and food.
Staff: Very friendly and attentive, they did their best to communicate in English with us and overall, they did a fantastic job.
Environment: We loved the decor and the the ambiance of the restaurant was very relaxing while keeping. The lighting around lunch was great and it never felt stuffy during our meal.
Food: I had the 4-Course meal (shown in menu) and my wife had the Business Course. Both courses were amazing, the soups (hers was a mushroom soup) were perfect temperature and the tastes were delightful and full of flavor. The mains were also incredible with many different flavor profiles available with the presented dishes. For me, the dessert was spot on for the 4-course menu as it felt like eating a very refined pina colada, I was tempted to order a second one as it was just that good, but the meal at that point had filled me/us up plenty.
The wine was recommended by our waiter and he was spot on with the recommendation as it paired nicely with each dish of our courses.
Overall, highly...

What an amazing place! My grand parents were born and raised in Pirmasens. So was m father. It was supposed to be a trip with a client to celebrate a successful transaction. It was an unexpected experience for our gourmet senses. Sashimi on wasabi sauce, octopus combined with oxtail ragout- what a delight! The duck breast presented in a plump sauce with a taste of mashed potatoes, still a high light after all the fancy starters. Not to forget the raspberry cold soup to kick off. The competent maitre d’, a nice guy to remember. Forgot to ask for his name. Would have been worth to remember. Competent and friendly. He knew the regional wineries and their products. Also the supporting waitresses very charming and friendly. Finally the atmosphere charming and relaxing. Even if you have traveled the world an unforgettable experience for your soul and your palette. Well done🌹 Thank you for the treat. Will spread the experience....
