The hotel is about 300 meters from the restaurant/reception in an old (1852) completely renovated mill. The decoration of the hotel and the restaurant reminded me of a fairy tale house of the Grimm brothers. In all there are I believe 17 rooms. Since the building is really very old the windows are quite small. The beds are great and the area is extremely quiet so put on the alarm, breakfast is only until 10 o'clock.||||The rooms are simple but very well arranged with very modern and roomy showers. The breakfast room is an absolute delight. The served breakfast itself is, of course, very German. ||||I also loved the restaurant which is a renovated wine cellar, this is the Mosel wine area after all. I have no idea how many small rooms there are but each one is decorated to the extreme. As an example, the reservation sign on the table is a plate with your name written in a beautiful handwriting done by the lady and soul of the house, Gudrun. I think she had even certain decorations done especially for the hotel and the restaurant. There is even a small store for wine, spirits and deco. By the way, the food is also very good. ||||The only problem is that it is in a tight valley and maybe not made for a long stay but if you're passing by the Mosel Valley towards the Rhine, it is really worth the detour. Since the owners are not the youngest you might want to visit it soon, as long...
Read moreNot everything that glitters is gold. This restaurant was an absolute disgrace from start to finish! We've deducted stars for the following: rude welcoming. There was nobody at reception when we arrived. Upon walking in someone came out and said "I was serving other customers". No apology for the wait and arrogant attitude from the older lady there menu is totally unreadable. The fancy writing is cute but very hard to decipher. No consideration for pensioners or people who have visual impairments the mixed appetiser was simply put DISGUSTING. Picture attached. For 25 euros the salad plate was bland and tasteless. Only 1 mozzarella and tomato skewer, thin slices of roast beef, canned mushrooms and some unseasoned vegetables for a shared platter of two? Absolute shame! When we complained the waitress' answer was "I will give your feedback to the kitchen". No reduction was given on the bill afterwards. 0 customer service. my mum's fish tasted sour and the spaghetti was dry. This had probably been cooked in the afternoon and left to dry. Her plate was cold too no consideration was given to dressing the plates either. Just thrown together. Even we could have done better!
I will be submitting a complaint to the Michelin Guide as this place is not worth it and will ruin your night. Avoid...
Read moreA hidden charming place. I came today with my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We saw the recommendation in the Michelin guide list and took the opportunity.
The place its like out of a book, very nice, cozy and clean. The attention at the reception was good and the lady who greeted us was very nice and friendly.
We were seated in a cellar and our table got different napkins, as we commented on the reservation that we were going to celebrate our anniversary, it was a very sweet touch.
For me as non-german (but I do speak it very well) was a bit difficult to read the menu. It was a tat difficult because the menu is beautifully written by hand (in cursive), so maybe expect to request help from the staff.
We ordered a white wine, grauburgunder, which for my taste was delicious. For food we ordered a potato soup and the garlic bread to start. Then we moved to the trout and the beef steak. The steak was amazing. For desert we had rice pudding and the apple pie, we recommend the second. The food was delicious, we were very happy.
By the time of paying the server brought us a small card wishing us a happy anniversary and a carpe diem stone. Very beautiful gesture.
We recommend this place very much and hope to visit...
