Giannis Grill 2 — Restaurant in Sankt Augustin

Today we dined at the Greek cafe, and while most of the experience was pleasant, there was one significant hiccup that I can't overlook.

Let's start with the positives. The ambiance of the cafe was inviting, and the service was indeed swift and attentive. I was impressed with the freshness of the ingredients used in their dishes; it's evident that they take pride in their food quality.

However, when it came to the Shashlik, there was a bit of disappointment. The meat itself was good, well-prepared, and flavorful. But the issue arose with the sauce. Now, here's where it gets tricky. In the menu, there was no mention of a sauce being included with the Shashlik, and I was surprised to find it drenched in a sauce I didn't particularly enjoy (Photo 2). To my surprise, when I inquired about this, the waiter informed me that the Shashlik always comes with the sauce. It would have been more helpful if this was clarified on the menu or at least mentioned by the staff when ordering.

On a brighter note, the Giros (Photo 1) was a different story altogether. It was really tasty. This dish was a highlight of the meal and certainly made up for the Shashlik mishap.

Overall, the Greek cafe has a lot going for it, from a pleasant atmosphere to speedy service and delicious dishes (like the Giros). However, the issue with the undisclosed sauce accompanying the Shashlik left a sour taste in my mouth, quite literally. SUPER!!! Die Portionen machen einen richtig satt. Gyros ist lecker und saftig. Ich hingegen mag eher die Gerichte mit Leber. Bedienung sind alle durchweg freundlich und zuvorkommend. Sehr zu empfehlen hier zu essen!

Update 03.10.21 Ich habe das Gefühl die Teller werden immer größer 😅 aber ich hab trotzdem alles aufgegessen, mit mehreren Pausen dazwischen.

11.03.2023 Egal wann ich hierhin zum essen komme jedes Gericht ist immer super lecker und frisch! Der Zatziki ist echt eine Wucht 👌🏽😁 Ich weiß nicht wie die es hinkriegen die Pommes jedesmal so knusprig zu bekommen. Es war bisher nie anders oder zu weich. Immer knusprig! Herrlich ❤️

Was manche Leute zu bemängeln haben....in all den Jahren seit ich dort zu Gast bin, war der bestellte Gyros ausnahmslos zu empfehlen. Die Pommes mängelfrei und keineswegs fettig. Die Portionen sind so gewaltig dass ich als "normal" Esser diese noch nie komplett essen konnte. Selbst die mal angebotene Kinderportion unterschied sich kaum von der normalen. Der Rest geht mit nach Hause, als zweite Portion. Womit ich auch nach der bedauerlichen Preiserhöhung immer noch zwei Portionen für das Geld bekomme. Das Ambiete ist einem Grillrestaurante entsprechend und völlig ausreichend. War und bin völlig zufrieden, die 1 Stern Bewertungen kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Es sei noch erwähnt, in Giannis Nähe gibt es einen weiteren Gyros Anbieter. Dort habe ich zweimal Gyros geholt und konnte es nicht essen, es wurde Gewürze verwendet die ich als unangenehm empfand. Ich bleibe bei Janni. Bin gleich wieder da, Geburtstagsgyros essen. Freue...
