Das Jaartn — Restaurant in Schönefeld

Was visiting with my boyfriend last week when I flew over, and we decided to check this restaurant out, and it was a great decision to do so. The atmosphere of the place was outright welcoming and cosy as soon as we entered (the dog also might have helped with this). The owners were really attentive and welcoming. The waiting time for food/drinks were I would say good compared to other restaurants. We ordered from the menu 2 "Berlin"s which were quite interesting right away. They were composed together with attention to details and delivered on the "fein" part of the restaurant's motto. We then got a "Kürbis-Linsen-Eintopf" which was one of the 'cosiest' meals that I have ever eaten. I would recommend it to anyone on a colder day. We also had a "Bohnenhummus und karamellisierte karotten", it was well balanced and the carrots were awesome (which as we found out later when talking with the owner that it was from their own garden!). For last we got a "Pflaumen-Zimt-Schnecke" (Plum-Cinnamon-Roll) which wasn't my cup of tea (however it wasn't bad!), and a caramel brownie which quite opposite was up my alley. They also offer other than what's on their menu a selection of sweets, regional chocolates, sauces, pet food, and other items.

Das Jaartn is definitely amongst one of the things that this area has needed, and hopefully it's here to stay. Needless to say I/We will be returning and as promised I will take a longer and closer look at those chocolates (and...

Das Essen war wirklich sehr sehr lecker. Alles absolut selbst gekocht und frisch zubereitet. Das hat man auf Anhieb gemerkt. Die Mitarbeiter waren leider etwas überfordert mit der Aufnahme der Bestellungen und der Zubereitung. Was leider größter Knackpunkt war, war die Frühstücksplatten, die man auswählen konnte. Ein ePmatte hatte viel zu viel und war auch sehr hübsch angerichtet, zu mal alles, was wir gegessen haben, wirklich lecker war! Leider nur war gar kickt wirklich ersichtlich, für wie viele diese Platten waren. Auf der Karte steht beschrieben, das die Platten allein oder gemeinsam (empfohlen wird zu zweit) verzehrt werden können. Daraufhin gaben wir 8 Personen 4 Platten bestellt. Bekommen haben wir nur 3. Aufgrund der Überforderung der Bestellaufnahme - und Zubereitung haben wir sehr lange auf die Platten gewartet und wollten nicht anfangen, da von den 4 Platten lediglich 3 geliefert wurden. Erst nach Nachfrage haben sie uns erklärt, dass die 4 Platten auf die 3 aufgeteilt wurden und wir untereinander teilen können. Das ist keine gute Idee gewesen, wenn ich 4 Sadhen bestelle und nur 3 bekomme. Es ist undurchsichtig, was gehört wem und vor allem wird mir auch alles geliefert, was ich bezahle? Das war sehr sehr ungünstig, da eben auch durch die eine fehlende Platte etwas weniger Nachtisch war. Also alles in allem war es wirklich lecker und wir sind alle satt geworden. Aber keiner hat den Preis verstanden und im Endeffekt über 30€ für ein Frühstück jetzt auch nicht sonderlich preiswert, wenn ich es auch noch...

Those who've been to their old place in Kreuzberg know what to expect. The food is delicious. Menu changes with the season. They also have food with gluten now, but they do have a separate kitchen for the gluten free requests. It's always a pleasure to talk to the staff and the location is really nice. On their website one can find directions on how to get there as well as the menu. Worth to mention, from airport T5 (where you can get with S9) it's easy to walk here, no need to wait forever...
