I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Mumbai Star Indian Restaurant! The Paneer Tikka Butter Masala and Dal Makhni were hands down the best I’ve had in Soest! The flavors were rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. The garlic naan was fresh, soft, and paired wonderfully with the curries. To top it off, the chai was simply delightful—just the right amount of spice and warmth.

Not only was the food exceptional, but the service was top-notch! The owner was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable.

Ich kenne das Restaurant schon seit dem Imbiß "Haus Arens" und auch schon oft indisches Essen im neuen Lokal bestellt. Allerdings seit der Eröffnung von Mumbai Star erst jetzt besucht.

Auf Chefs Empfehlung habe ich Chicken Tikka Malai (Nr. 60 auf der Karte) bestellt. Das ist ein Hänchengericht, welches im indischen Ofen am Spieß gebraten wird. Serviert wird es auf einem heißen Teller aus Gußeisen, so dass es noch knistert, wenn es zu Tisch gebracht wird. Dazu gibt es Reis, Salat und Soße. Die Soße fand ich etwas zu scharf und habe deshalb die Knoblauchsoße genommen (Geheimtipp). Ich empfehle aber das Gericht auch ohne Soße zu probieren. Ich finde, das Fleisch sowohl gut und ausgewogen, als auch dezent Gewürzt und hat ein gewisses Raucharoma. Deswegen war es für mich bei jedem Bissen eine schwere Entscheidung, ob ich in die Soßen tunken soll, oder nicht.

Wenn sich jemand entscheidet, das Gericht mal zu probieren, sollte etwas Zeit opfern. So viel ich weiß, wird es erst bei Bestellung frisch mariniert und je nach Auslastung (das Restaurant war voll), muss man warten. Ich habe etwa 30 - 45 Minuten gewartet.

Was ich persönlich gut finde, dass Chai (Teezubereitung), welchen ich bisher nur in besonderen Fällen auf Nachfrage bekam, jetzt regulär auf der Speisekarte steht.

Eines muss ich in meinem persönlichen Fall (Sojaallergie) besonders hervorheben! Mumbai Star ist einer der wenigen Restaurants in Soest, wo ich nahezu sorgenfrei essen kann. Viele Gastronomiebetriebe, darunter auch Bäckereien (Soja im Kuchen, Brot und Brötchen!), haben überschlagen in 90 % der Gerichte Soja, dazu reagieren sie zumeist genervt, wenn man nach der Allergenliste fragt. Ich habe nachgefragt und so verstanden, dass es bei Mumbai Star nur ein einziges Gericht mit Soja gibt.

Alles in einem kann ich zusammenfassend sagen, wer hier vor Ort essen möchte, muss auf jeden Fall Zeit mitbringen und indisches Essen mögen. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, aber sie bieten wohl immer noch Pizza an. Der Innenraum bietet nicht viel Platz, dafür aber ein schönes Ambiente. Es ist sauber und ordentlich.
