Köstlich Vegan — Restaurant in Tübingen

This shop serves vegan Turkish-inspired food like at kebap shops. It looks like they mostly do to-go, but there are two standing tables for dine-in. The shop is small but the decoration is very down-to-earth which makes it feel comfortable, and the person who served me was friendly. My Çigköfte Teller was amazing: köfte, hummus, salad, roasted vegetables, couscous, and pita. The pita was the best I’ve ever had - it was so fresh and soft with a crispy outside! Everything was very flavourful - the seasoning in the couscous was great and the red sauce on the köfte and to the side of the hummus was very unique (a little bit spicy, but not enough that I would call it hot sauce). You get a little bit of everything with this plate, and it’s filling but very healthful. Amazing value for the price of less than €10. I also got a coconut cookie. Initially I thought it was a little dry but it grew on me. It was like a coconut snowball cookie the way it melted in my mouth a little with each bite. The flavour of coconut was very prominent. This place is really good for the variety it offers if you’re vegan, but it’s really tasty stuff so I’d recommend it for anyone! Nothing on my plate tasted like the “vegan version” of something real - it was all very tasty in its own right! Köstlich Vegan is an oriental take-away in central Tübingen. A few tables are available but you can't sit so it's really a quick meal rather than a proper sit down to lunch place.

The service was amazing, I did not know half of the options as I was visiting Germany but they took the time to explain what we could order and how things worked. Prices were very good, you can order the dish of the day or something off the menu for a little more.

The food was unbelievable, super tasty and well presented. Everything is vegan as the name lets assume and yummy desserts were also available.

We would definitely return to Köstlich Vegan and fully recommend it to...

Noch bevor wir das "Köstlich Vegan" entdeckten, fielen uns in der Umgebung bereits dutzende Menschen auf, die an diesem sonnig-warmen Maitag ihre Mittagspause im Freien verbrachten. Alle aßen dabei verführerisch lecker aussehende türkische Speisen wie Çiğ Köfte von türkisblauen Porzellantellern.

Ich witzelte noch darüber, dass das wohl mal ein Supersonderangebot für schwäbische Sparfüchse gewesen sein muss, wenn halb Tübingen dieses eine Essgeschirr besäße, weil ich mir den Anblick nicht anders erklären konnte. Dass es ein Restaurant geben könnte, das Speisen zum Mitnehmen statt mit Styroporschale und Einwegbesteck auf normalen Tellern und mit richtigem Metallbesteck anbietet, konnte ich mir schlicht nicht vorstellen.

Doch das "Köstlich Vegan" gibt es nicht nur, es macht seinem Namen auch alle Ehre. Für nur 5-7€ erhält man hier als Mittagsangebot eine wahrlich köstliche und große Portion türkischer oder arabischer Speisen als vegane Variante. Ein bisschen Geduld sollte man mitbringen, denn obwohl die Betreiber ihr Bestes geben, können sie dem Ansturm in der Mittagszeit nicht ganz gerecht werden, aber dafür erhält man dann auch vorzügliche Speisen.

Ich entschied mich für das Tagesessen, das man - wie gesagt - auch mit nach draußen nehmen darf. Dies ist auch nötig, denn der Innenraum ist klein und könnte bei Weitem nicht alle Gäste aufnehmen, wollten diese alle ihre Speisen vor Ort verzehren.

Gerade bei schönem, warmen Wetter ist es aber herrlich, sich mit Teller und Besteck entweder rund um den Spielplatz Metzgergasse oder an der katholischen Kirche niederzulassen und es sich schmecken zu lassen. Leider waren wir in Tübingen nur auf Durchreise, sodass ich das "Köstlich Vegan" so schnell nicht wieder besuchen kann, aber es bekommt eine klare...
