Pension Unmüßig — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Hinterzarten

Today, I visited this Cafe along with my wife and our 1.7-year-old child and a group a friends with children (later in the afternoon). ||||The Cafe looks good on the outside but what goes on the inside is shocking, literally. The woman behind the counter was so rude. She stared at us as we started asking about the different types of cakes available, and she showed no courtesy, no friendliness, no assistance even for a subsecond. We were a group of parents with 3 children, and no one helped us with the space we needed at all; it was like this your problem and your figure out. we did figure out that we could only go to the upper floor because there were free tables, and when we asked if we could move tables to be together, the waiter told us NO. We have 3 strollers, so we asked if we could leave them on the ground level, and it was another moment of requesting something from a rude and useless staff who said yes with an angry face. We ordered the cakes and icecreams but we were already not feeling good about the place. We ate quickly, and then, two women of our group went down to the Cashier to check out, but once again, they were told by the rude staff to go back to table where the money could be collected (I swear, this is not a joke). Lastly, as we were making our way from the upper floor to the ground floor, we saw the strollers pushed at the middle of the Cafe, it literary was like take your strollers and never come back. ||||This is exactly the exepreice we had. It was a toxic atmosphere. If you care for your self and your dignity, don't make the mistake of visiting this Cafe 👎👎||||NOTE: the staff I refer to here is the woman behind the counter who is supposedly recievce customers with courtesy. ||||||Hinterzarten...

Wir waren Anfang Juni 2025 in einer Gruppe von sechs Personen im Café Unmüßig - ungeplant, aber am Ende dann doch froh darüber. Wir hatten als Tagestour eine Wanderung in der Umgebung geplant und waren mitten in der Tour, als ein starkes Regengebiet aufzog und uns kurzfristig eine Pause der Tour bescherte. "Notgedrungen" haben wir uns dann dazu entschlossen, eine Rast im Trockenen einzulegen - und offenbar waren wir nicht die Einzigen mit dem Gedanken, denn die umliegenden Cafés und Bäckereien waren bereits proppevoll und auch hier im Café ließ der Blick von Außen durch die Scheibe nichts Gutes erahnen. Doch auf Nachfrage bekamen wir mitgeteilt, dass im 1. OG natürlich noch Plätze bzw. Tische frei waren und wir sehr gerne dort einkehren dürfen - was wir dann auch getan haben.

Uns wurde ein Tisch bzw. eine dazugehörige "Tischnummer" zugewiesen, die Speisen wurden dann durch uns in Eigenregie im Erdgeschoss an der Bedien- bzw. Kuchentheke ausgesucht und vom Personal später gesammelt an den Tisch gebracht. Die Auswahl der vorhandenen Speisen (überwiegend Kuchen / Torten, aber auch viel Süßigkeiten bzw. Schokoladen-Leckereien) war absolut vielfältig und gar überwältigend - hier hätte man sich problemlos auch den ganzen Tag durchessen können. ;)

Getränke wurden direkt beim Personal am Tisch bestellt - diese kamen mit einem Zeitversatz von ca. 5 Minuten zum Essen. Zeitgleich wäre optimal gewesen - aber das war kein Beinbruch und in Ordnung. Wir hatten ja Zeit und haben ohnehin noch gewartet, bis wir wieder vollends "durchgetrocknet" waren. Das Gebäude macht - sowohl außen als auch innen - einen sehr charmanten und liebevoll gestalteten Eindruck. Das Personal war jederzeit freundlich, zuvorkommend und schnell - trotz der Tatsache dass der Laden gut gefüllt war. Die Torten- / Kuchenstücke hatten eine für ein Cafe / Bäckerei "normale" Größe, Qualitätstechnisch gab es an Speisen und Getränken absolut nichts auszusetzen, erste Klasse!

Summa Summarum waren wir froh, auf einen Abstecher hier gelandet zu sein und eine weitere gute Adresse in den "Akten" speichern zu können. Wir können das Café Unmüßig empfehlen und würden jederzeit wieder hier Gast...

We stopped here as a group of about 20 people. I realise that managing food for such a large group can be daunting but most places will glibly take is in their stride. Not so our waitress who was extrememly put out and made it very clear that we were unwelcome. When one tea order was incorrect she forced the guest to take it, without any apology.
