You can experience Black Forest unfriendliness to the full here. During the day trip to St. Ulrich in mid-April 2021, we visited the old church and wanted to get hot drinks in Rössle. The information board outside offered drinks and food to take away. To our surprise, there was an elderly man at the counter inside and our wish could not be fulfilled, but in such a tone, my God, as if we had done something criminal. He also did not allow us to use the toilet. We did not understand at all whether it was connected with COVID pandemic or not. If it was, the three elderly ladies would not be allowed to sit inside, but they were sitting there without mouth and nose protection. In the end, he sent us away and pointed us in the direction of the public toilets in the village. This information was also wrong. Our delicious Hefeweizens arrived with mouth watering bread and quark. What followed was a marvellous meal (gulasch with noodles, liver with fried potatoes, chocolate mousse with lovely fresh fruit). All simple fare but exceptionally well executed.
