If you only have 24 hours for the complete German experience you can spend 23.5 of them at Burg Wilhelmstein and .5 on the bus getting here and not miss out! If it's nice out, you can enjoy your bottomless beer on the patio overlooking the castle and the peasant fields below (I don't know if the beer was technically bottomless but that is absolutely how it feels because a new one with a lil doily necklace shows up before you've finished the last one)!! Then after a leisurely amount of time, the waiter will explain 14 local specialties rolled or baked in some combination of potatoes, cheese, breadcrumbs, and meat. You might not know exactly what you ordered but chances of it coming covered in melted cheese and crispy potatoes is very high!! You literally cannot go wrong ordering, so no language skills necessary beyond "Ein bier, bitte" As you linger after your meal, you'll be tempted with numerous aperitifs aimed at priming your digestive system for the chocolate mousse you are about to wharf down (not to worry- another beer is about to arrive to wash it down with). The staff are delightful, attentive (like- American-style "how's the food tasting" attentive) and clearly aren't sick of tourists yet. They are excited to share their knowledge of the castle and the local lore (this covers the cultural/historical component of your trip). At this point- you're ready to stroll back through the castle archways after popping inside to admire the quaint German nostalgia en route to the bathroom to relieve your bladder. 10/10 would come again, this is a gem in the Aachen...

Hallo, wir haben mit 3 Personen (Frau, Schwiegermutter, ich) am 25.12.2023 das Weihnachtsmenü im Restaurant eingenommen. Das Menü bestand aus einem Salat, einer Suppe, wahlweise verschiedenen Hauptgerichten und einer Nachspeise. Alles war hervorragend, sehr ansprechend angerichtet und exzellent im Geschmack. Der wirklich sehr kleine Wermutstropfen, war das bei zwei Hauptgerichten, das Gemüse bzw. die Kartoffeln fast kalt, bzw. kalt waren. Bei dem Hinweis reagierte das Personal sehr höflich und bot und als Entschädigung einen Kaffee aufs Haus zum Abschluss an. Gute Reaktion, kann immer passieren, gerade wenn viele Gäste im Haus sind. Also sehr zufriedenstellen die Situation gelöst. Nochmals sowohl dem Service als auch dem Küchenchef großes Lob für Speis und Trank. Ich war dort zum ersten Mal, meine Frau und Schwiegermutter schon früher allerdings längere Zeit her. Da Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war gut bis sehr gut, besonders gut gefiel und das sich die Getränkepreise im Rahmen gehalten haben. Jedenfalls von unserer Seite eine Empfehlung sowohl, vom Essen, vom Service, als auch von der Lokation. Wir werden jedoch es an einem ruhigeren Tag mit weniger Gästen vorziehen demnächst wieder bei Ihnen Gast sein zu dürfen. Hello, 3 of us (wife, mother-in-law, myself) had the Christmas menu in the restaurant on 25.12.2023. The menu consisted of a salad, a soup, a choice of different main courses and a dessert. Everything was outstanding, very attractively presented and excellent in taste. The really very small fly in the ointment was that the vegetables and potatoes in two of the main courses were almost cold. The staff reacted very politely when I pointed this out and offered a coffee on the house at the end as compensation. Good reaction, can always happen, especially when there are many guests in the house. So the situation was resolved very satisfactorily. Once again, both the service and the chef deserve great praise for the food and drink. I was there for the first time, my wife and mother-in-law had been there before but a long time ago. The price-performance ratio was good to very good, and we particularly liked the fact that the drinks prices were reasonable. In any case, we would recommend the food, the service and the location. However, on a quieter day with fewer guests, we would prefer to be your guests again in the near future. Wir haben am 21.07.2018 unsere Kirchliche Hochzeit im Restaurant Burg Wilhelmstein gefeiert. Bereits beim ersten Vorabgespräch zeigte sich der Inhaber Günther Sevenich uns gegenüber offen und sehr gut vorbereitet. Er hatte sofort Serviettenmuster, verschiedene Buffetauswahlen und allerhand Infos für uns parat. Kurze Zeit später haben wir den Entschluss gefasst, unseren schönsten Tag dort zu verbringen. Nun, nachdem die Hochzeit gerade erst vorüber ist können wir sagen, dass die Entscheidung die beste überhaupt war.

Die Location: Perfekt! Wir haben uns für den "Rittersaal" entschieden, welcher für insgesamt 42 Gäse eingedeckt wurde. Der Saal hat hierfür genau die richtige Größe. Sogar das Buffet konnte dort mit aufgebaut werden.

Das Essen: Wir hatten uns mit ein paar kleinen Veränderungen für eines der Buffets entschieden. Da niemand aus unserem Bekanntenkreis bisher im Restaurant Burg Wilhelmstein zu Gast war und wir es im Vorfeld leider nicht mehr geschafft haben einmal "Probe essen" zu gehen waren alle sehr gespannt wie es denn nun schmecken würde. Angefangen von den Canapés beim Empfang, über die Suppe als Vorspeise bis hin zum Dessert war das Essen so wahnsinnig gut, dass kaum ein Gast es sich hat nehmen lassen, den Koch -zurecht- zu loben. Wir haben uns im Anschluss an die Feier nun vorgenommen, definitiv an unserem Hochzeitstag immer dort essen zu gehen!

Der Service: Einmalig! Vielen lieben Dank an die beiden Kellnerinnen, die extrem "auf Zack" waren und an diesem Tag sicherlich einige Kilometer für uns und unsere Gäste zurückgelegt haben. Vielen Dank auch an den stellvertretenden Restaurantleider Herrn Daniel Alexnat, welcher jederzeit ein offenes Ohr hatte und absolut jedem Wunsch nachgekommen ist! Besonders toll fand ich persönlich die Aktion beim Mitternachtsgrillen, den Schwenkgrill mit einem Laubbläser anzufeuern - das hat super Fotos gegeben und zusätzlich bei den Gästen wirklich für Aufsehen gesorgt :)

Apropos Service: Herr Sevenich selbst hatte uns vorab mitgeteilt, dass er unsere Gäse im Umkreis von 10km sogar nach Hause fährt - und genau so ist es auch gekommen - selbst nachts um 03:00h morgens!

Alles in allem kann ich sagen, dass es eine wahnsinnig schöne Feier war, die ich am liebsten jedes Wochende wiederholen möchte. Jeder Gast hat uns mitgeteilt, wie wunderschön das gesamte Fest war und wie toll die gesamte Location ist. Alles richtig gemacht!
