Hutchland Beach in Cape Coast offers a captivating blend of relaxation and vibrant local culture, making it a popular spot for both residents and visitors. While not a secluded paradise, it's a beach that truly embodies the lively spirit of Ghana's coastal life. I went here with a group of 7 for our final night in Ghana and it was such an awful experience from start to finish that eventually we were all in hysterics at how bad a place can be
Why: told us they had a selection of red and white wines but then said they could only open 1 bottle that had a screw top as they didn't own a corkscrew (it's a bar!)
told us they didn't have pepperoni 90 mins after ordering a pepperoni pizza
told us the seafood pizza wasn't available because they didn't have seafood (the fish market in Elmina is 10 mins away)
couldn't make red red because they didn't have plantain (it's sold all along the road outside)
couldn't make special rice (no reason given)
the roof leaked when it rained
the first meal arrived after an hour. The last one arrived after 2 hours
The evening was summed up perfectly around 10pm when a big rat ran past our table and leapt over a wall into the sea!
There are loads of other bars & restaurants along the same road, with the same view etc. Try one of them instead. Hutchland is probably OK if you just want to drink a beer, and nothing...
Read moreMy goodness! This place ls a rat infested restaurant. I went there a couple weeks ago with my girl. In a span of 2 mins we saw at least 5 rats. The restaurant is out in the open. It’s a hut style restaurant right next to the beach. Exposed to the elements.
I hated it. I turned around and left. I refused to eat in a restaurant where I am literally sitting among rats.
If this was the condition outside, there is no telling what’s going on in the kitchen.
My goodness! The entire management needs to be fired for allowing this. The whole place needs to be fumigated Or move away from the open hut concept. Build a proper enclosed air conditioned restaurant or something.
And clean your beaches cape coast. This beach and every beach there was nasty. Human defecation everywhere. This is what brings the rats—filth.
Rats are nasty ! I...
