Geroplatanos — Restaurant in Almopia Municipality

Literally, one of the most "value-for-money" tavern/restaurants we 've ever dinned in!!! Michalis and his family run an unbelievably warm and friendly place to eat at, and they really deserve every nice comment written. Large salad with seasonal fruits and delicious dressing, crunchy fried zucchini, large chicken schnitzel (order it with cream on top, I didn't but I should) and a nice appetizer called Mak-Mak with tomato sauce and green/red peppers, where you can immerse bread. In case I had a permanent residence near the restaurant, I could definitely have my every day meals there. Large portions (accompanied with rice and potatoes), fine quality meats and smiley people. The place, really represents the term "hospitality" (we took food with us, because we couldn't handle the portions)... Dessert follows for free before...

If you’re in the area and don’t stop at Geroplatanos, you’re missing out on a culinary hug from Greece itself. The food? Incredible and very affordable. Do yourself a favor and order the buffalo soutzoukakia they’re so good you might question every soutzoukaki you’ve had before. And the peppers… oh, the peppers. Some are sweet, some are spicy, and some are plotting against you it’s a delicious gamble.

Owner Michalis is the kind of guy who makes you feel like you’ve been friends for years, and the chef is his wife who deserves the chefs kiss. Let’s just say, not a single plate missed the mark. Wow what a wonderful experience to eat here. One of our best meals after a month in Greece. The owner is so welcoming with beautiful Greek hospitality making you immediately feel at home. The menu has many local specialties that are different from any other dishes we have tried. Everything we ordered was delicious and seasoned to perfection. The Mak Mak and the cheese dumplings are a must. The seasonal fruit salad and hot peppers were also wonderful. I didn't understand how it was possible to have such a high rating with so many reviews but after trying I completely understand why. This place is a rare find and so worth...
