Let’s start with the beach: it’s a very beautiful pebble beach without faults, clean and water crystal. The actual beach establishment: while also very clean with a good service, offering many sunbeds both near and on patio, depending on your shades requirement, the actual sun era are NOT FREE like some reviewers are writing. You are charged 15 euros for each umbrella regardless if you consume or not. This information is rather misleading as its costs is also written on the boards at the beach entrance in a way that may be interpreted the opposite. So, to be clear again, the sinners are not for free. The actual restaurant and its setting is very nice indeed, for an evening dinner, not a very large menu but some dishes nice and tasty. Prices slightly above the average but I think you pay for the settings. For quick lunch and/or snacks at the sunbeds the prices are astronomically high. This is often expected in such location, although the opposite would be a nice welcome and give you less of a squeeze-the-tourists feeling. Plenty of car park spaces. There is another establishment on the side of Dolopes of similar settings, unsure of the costs but I guess the music is similar.
One note worth mentioning is that there is an organised small charter boat brining guests from the port, which land on the spot near the beach, which then become full of enthusiastic people of all sorts sitting and consuming at the premises. If you require some privacy and quiet then for some 3 hours you can forget it. But the real question is whether they are also charged the...
Read moreVisited earlier this week on an organised trip from Skopelos. There were three of us all solo travellers so we decided starters with a salad and water - possibly wine later as we had 2hours free time. Waiter arrived we asked a question regarding one of the dishes- he swore in Greek (one of our party understood) he wasn’t interested in our orders. He was anxious to get to the next table consisting of a large Greek family. We unanimously made the decision there would be no remuneration for the service. The food arrived and disappointingly it was fabulous ( much easier to not tip if the food is mediocre). One item we hadn’t ordered was a basket of bread cost £3.60. Anyway I went to waiter station to take photographs of the menus … so I wouldn’t forget the name. The rude waiter approached asking me what I was doing and I said “taking pics of the menu” he shot me daggers and practically threw a book on the table saying “this is the menu”. By this time I was fuming and said “thank you I will leave a scathing review for all to see”.. A Scandinavian man sat near by said the service is “so friendly “ tongue-in-cheek. He also said double check your bill - which we did to find the bread had been added which we hadn’t ordered or touched. We left payment minus bread and tip. So my advice there are lots of good eateries along the beach...
Read moreWe entered the beach and the sunbeds area from a ferry from skopelos during the 1 day trip to alonissos. I asked the waiter standing at the entrance how much does the sunbeds cost. He replied that all sunbeds are free. Me and my wife took 2 sunbeds on the higher shelf. There were plenty of sunbeds free in the beach bar, even after everyone from the ferry took their spot. After 5 minutes the waiter came to us and asked for order. We told him we dont need anything from the bar. He replied that in this case the sunbed price is 5€ each. We agreed to buy the 1L of bottled water for 3€ but he just smiled and said that with that order the price for sunbeds is still 5€ each. That was enough for me. I told him that he didnt say this on the entrance and I think that this is a scam and fraud. We packed our things and went to sit on the wall at the edge of area. We have been in Greece like 5 times in different islands and I have never seen such impudent behaviour until this day. Shameless politics. I do not recommend this beach...
