Updated after owner’s response: While the owner claims that I had a sinister aim to write such review, unfortunately they are in denial of truth. I have provided photos of the initial dishes and can provide the receipt. As a reviewer with more than 5.5 million views I would have expected an apology from the owner and possibly ask for a second chance at their establishment. Instead they chose to attack my integrity and that should be enough reason for thinking twice before visiting this place. Due to a personal attack on my reputation by the owner I decreased all ratings to one. Original reviews; This restaurant was highly recommended for its meat dishes. We ordered mixed meat plate for two, apart from a dried chicken breast there were 2 different type of meatballs (4 in total) since we opted out pork products. The meatballs were all charred so we had to send them back the replacement was burnt as well. We ordered liver it was very dry chewy and burnt as well. We shared it with local cats. The greek salad was good. The fantasy salad was extremely sweet due to supposed mango bubbles which did not taste like mango at all. We were asked two times if we were happy with the food and I suggested they adjust the intensity of their grill to be adjusted so they do not serve burnt food. We were given dessert for free which we did not touch based on our experience with the previous food, therefore I cannot...
Read moreWe went to the place upon advice. I believe it has an amazing potential yet has a lot to work on to accomplish it. Eating in a good restaurant is not only about stuffing you stomach. It is mostly a ceremonial celebration of good food in a good atmosphere. It is about recovering from the hectic routines of daily life. Instead whatever we ordered were rushed without much effort or consideration. That means our food was not fresh made but rather pre-cooked and stored in a fridge. This would ruin even the best recipes. The specialty appetiser dish tasted like salted paste that prevents harmony of tastes of different ingredients. When I mentioned this, their response was we tasted it and it is not salty. Salt and herbs are about added flavour not the flavour itself. So it is not like I like tomatoes but you don’t. It has standard. I asked for the main dish to arrive much later so that I could enjoy my drink and appetiser but it was rushed on to the table as I finished my sentence. Then it was kept in the kitchen as is and brought back ~15 minutes later and cold. The side dishes of the pork souvlaki were tasteless, grilled vegetables were burnt. All in all I could have been to a street food cart and have similar experience. But I was at a restaurant to enjoy elaborate tastes as I...
Read moreThe food at Pyxari was absolutely delicious. It’s a very clean, family-run restaurant, which adds a warm and welcoming atmosphere to the overall experience. We arrived a bit early, but after 7 PM the place started to fill up quickly—not only with tourists, but also with locals, which is always a great sign that you’re in the right spot.
Out of all the places we dined at during our stay in Chios, Pyxari served the best calamari by far—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. One detail that also stood out was the high quality of the balsamic vinegar used in their salads. It had a rich, intense flavor that elevated even the simplest dish.
If you're looking for a place that combines great food, cleanliness, and a friendly, authentic vibe, I highly recommend giving Pyxari a try. It's the kind of place where you can enjoy a relaxed meal and feel like you're part of the...
