The view is stunning, and the portions are quite generous. Food-wise, it’s slightly above average, but there are noticeable balance issues with spices and sauces.
The tzatziki was easily the worst I had on the island—completely overpowered by garlic. Fava had a terrible texture but tasted decent. Sarma were underwhelming. Kostas’ tomato balls were probably the highlight along with the cheese balls, which had a nice flavor thanks to good cheese choices. The eggplant was genuinely tasty, the chicken was just okay, and the goat didn’t really work. As for the rooster, the sauce tasted great at first but quickly became overwhelming.
Prices are around average, but unfortunately, service was a disaster.
Customer care is pretty much nonexistent. Despite reserving a table 2 days ago, we were seated in full sun with no shade. It was the worst place possible that they have reserved for us and when we asked to change the table they simply rejected it. The curtains were broken and kept hitting our shoulders in the wind, and trying to close the window only made the heat inside unbearable. This issue made the experience like we were eating in a cave instead of a nice view which was our main point of coming here.
Worst of all, the attitude of the staff—especially one tattooed waiter—was unprofessional. After talking with the next table about us (yes, about us with weird mimics), he turned to me and I asked if he could open the window. I explained the curtain issue, but he just ignored me COMPLETELY but he spent his precious time talking with them for a simple window issue for a minute ironically.
Even clearing empty plates was painfully slow. LITERALLY o one ever greeted us with even a hint of friendliness.
It felt like they were just going through the motions to keep the place running for profit, not because they care about the experience.
A great view can’t save a restaurant run...
Read moreWe have been visiting this restaurant for the past 20 years when on vacation on the island of Chios. The food and service used to be excellent, unfortunately, not any longer. But this year, to top it of, we have been rudely surprised. We understand the crazy greedy inflation that has been enforced upon us these past couple of years. The price of their dishes have increased, while the served food quantity has been decreased. Let's say the norm of the days, everywhere we may choose to go, it's the same story. But, to try to bluntly steel your customers at the cash register is way too much and not forgiven. We ordered our meals, for two, once done we waited to receive the bill following our request. While waiting, we did a quick mental calculation with the total amount reaching €34.89. Our big surprise was when we received the bill stating €43.90. We asked our waiter for verification, perhaps, a mistake, being polite. Because, the menu items were listed correctly on the receipt, but the total was wrong, overcharging us by roughly €10. The waitress blushed and excused herself wanting to ask her boss. She came back apologizing being a mistake, sticking off (by hand) the bill's total, and scribing over the correct amount €34.89 (by hand). The question is, how can a machine print out give a wrong (addition) for the total number of items listed above on the receipt itself??? Looking at the receipt and calculating by hand the total, we got the amount we paid. However, the total produced by the restaurant's billing system gave the wrong total. Just wondering, could it be through manual manipulation... Who knows!!! Vowed to never...
Read moreWe were drawn to this place because of its high rating and all the glowing recommendations, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations.
First of all, the portions are huge, so please keep that in mind when ordering! We had a Greek salad, dolmas, potato croquettes, goat stew, and a steak. Everything was just… okay. Nothing was particularly bad, but also nothing really stood out — definitely not a “wow” experience in terms of flavor.
The view is stunning, no doubt about that, but it was hard to enjoy because the place was full of wasps. They do place little dishes with burning coffee on the tables to keep them away (which helps a bit), but if you’re scared of wasps or sensitive to them, it’s something to consider. It did affect the overall atmosphere for us.
On the plus side, the service was very fast and efficient — everything we ordered came out quickly. That said, it would’ve been nice if the staff had warned us about the portion sizes, especially since we were just two people.
We paid €61 in total for all the dishes plus wine, which felt like good value considering the quantity — but if you’re a party of two, one main dish with a few appetizers would definitely be more...
