Fish Taverna Skaloma — Restaurant in Filiates Municipality

This is the place to feast on seafood and fish.

Every time we are in this part of mainland Greece, it’s an essential stop. Everything is juicy, fresh, and full of flavour. The Greek salad is fragrant with every ingredient, and the feta is incredibly creamy. The fries are delicious, and clearly made from high-quality potatoes. The marinated octopus melts in your mouth. The fried calamari is tender and crispy, the shrimp sweet and delicate, and the gavros (small fried fish) are just perfect for crunching. Absolute perfection.

We live on the island just across, and yet this remains our favourite spot for a fantastic lunch. The white wine pairs beautifully with the seafood, and they also serve our favourite beer—Mamos.

To finish the meal, the family will treat you to their unforgettable homemade cream ice cream—a gesture and flavour that will stay with you. We wish we had taken a photo of that deliciousness!

This review reflects many visits. We wish we could come more often, but every time we leave our island for the mainland, this is a must-visit.

Αυτό είναι το απόλυτο μέρος για γιορτή με θαλασσινά.

Κάθε φορά που βρισκόμαστε σε αυτό το μέρος της ηπειρωτικής Ελλάδας, είναι στάση απαραίτητη. Όλα είναι ζουμερά, φρέσκα και γεμάτα γεύση. Η ελληνική σαλάτα μοσχοβολάει με κάθε υλικό, και η φέτα είναι απίστευτα κρεμώδης. Οι πατάτες τηγανιτές πεντανόστιμες, φτιαγμένες από πατάτες εξαιρετικής ποιότητας. Το χταπόδι μαριναρισμένο λιώνει στο στόμα. Τα καλαμαράκια τηγανητά είναι τραγανά και τρυφερά, οι γαρίδες γλυκές και λεπτές, και ο γαύρος – απλά τέλειος για να τον τρως με το χέρι. Πραγματικά, μαεστρία.

Μένουμε στο νησί ακριβώς απέναντι, κι όμως αυτό εδώ είναι το αγαπημένο μας μέρος για ένα φανταστικό μεσημεριανό. Το λευκό κρασί δένει υπέροχα με τα θαλασσινά και σερβίρουν και την αγαπημένη μας μπύρα – Μάμος.

Στο τέλος του γεύματος, η οικογένεια θα σας κεράσει σπιτικό παγωτό κρέμα – τόσο νόστιμο που θα το θυμάστε για καιρό. Μακάρι να είχαμε βγάλει φωτογραφία αυτής της λιχουδιάς!

Αυτή η κριτική είναι αποτέλεσμα πολλών επισκέψεων. Θα θέλαμε να ερχόμαστε πιο συχνά, αλλά κάθε φορά που φεύγουμε από το νησί για την στεριά, είναι στάση απαραίτητη.

I’ve visited Skaloma Restaurant in Sagiada several times recently with relatives who are over visiting. Each time, we were impressed by the quality and choice of the food which was extremely fresh and well cooked. The staff who spoke excellent English were exceptionally polite and helpful. An order of delicious fresh fish was even filleted perfectly for one of our group who was unable to do this on his own. We enjoyed the excellent service, good choice of fresh food including fish, seafood and meat, in a spotlessly clean environment and, best of all, we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices when the bill arrived. We stayed in Asproklisi, a bit further away from Fish Taverna Skaloma than we hoped for, because we are travelling by bicycle. Despite the heat we decided to take the 5 km ride to taste the fresh shrimps and fish and we were not disappointed, on the contrary. Both shrimps and fish were grilled to perfection and tasted delicious. The grilled vegetables I had never before so tasty. This all in an outdoor setting in the harbour and during sun set. Last but not least we were surprised by a delicious scoop of home made ice cream. It was our last diner in Greece and it couldnt have been better.
