My wife and I recently had lunch at this restaurant. The menu was only in Greek with an English translation, but without prices. 🚩
They immediately brought 2 small bottles of water (0.5 L each) and bread (which is common in Greece).
We ordered: fried eggplant, grilled octopus, potato salad.
While ordering, I asked the waitress about the prices: eggplant — €6, octopus — “€8” (she said it very unclearly, even after I asked again if it was "eight" she confirmed by pronouncing it as "eight" unclearly though 🚩).
When it came time to pay, here was the bill: grilled octopus — €18 (not initially announced €8 🚩🚩🚩) fried eggplant — €6 potato salad — €8 🚩🚩 water & bread — €2 Total: €34
I paid, but pointed out that by law prices must be listed in the menu. The owner said the menu was “old” and that prices were “recently updated.” However, I later noticed in Google reviews that someone posted a photo of the exact same menu without prices 11 months ago. So it clearly hasn’t been updated for almost a year! 🚩
What was even more unpleasant: before I mentioned the law, the owner pretended to barely understand English. But as soon as I said I would pay but prices must be displayed by law — her English suddenly became much better. 🚩
📌 Pros: tasty food (the octopus was genuinely good), quick service, nice atmosphere.
📌 Cons: no prices in the menu, vague and misleading answers about prices, strong feeling of being overcharged, “broken” card payment terminal, excuse about not updating the menu, while in reality it hasn’t been updated for at least 11 months.
Verdict: Food deserves ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Trust in this place — ⭐.
We left with the clear impression that we were misled. That’s why I’m giving 1 star.
Advice for visitors: either write down the prices when you ask, or simply choose a more transparent restaurant - one where you’ll leave both full and confident you didn’t just pay €8 for the most expensive potato salad of...
Read moreA really nice and friendly place for an early lunch. They didn't have any English-speaking staff, but they asked around other neighbour businesses to bring two English speakers to help us order. It was the very first restaurant we went to since we landed, and we were not ready for such friendliness and hospitality, given where I live, Poland. We took a while to decide and place an order, but the lady was really patient. Their food is simple but delicious. It was difficult to find this place because their was no sign written on the restaurant, but apparently there is a reason for it...
Read moreA typical local restaurant with traditional food that is hard to describe in one word. everything was fresh, deliciously seasoned and portions worth the price. We were treated to traditional alcohol and dessert. All around locals which makes the place really trustworthy. We will definitely go back there and recommend it to anyone who wants to try traditional Greek cuisine. It is worth catching a bus and going a little bit further from the center of...
