Perigiali — Restaurant in Katerini Municipality

We stood outside the restaurant waiting for service, but everyone ignored us. Finally I had to go in and ask if they had a table for four. They did, and when we finally got someone to talk to he was super friendly and helpful. They put some bread and a bottle of water on the table, but again the service was pretty poor - I had to get up and go get some olive oil for the bread myself from inside the restaurant. The bread was a bit too dense and dry. Our kids ordered pasta carbonara and pasta bolognese. Both were very tasty, but they were nothing like the real stuff they would serve in Italy. But as I said - very good and our kids loved both dishes. My wife and I ordered grilled feta saganaki as a starter, and some tzatziki to dip the bread in. The saganaki wasn't what I expected. I expected a cheese with some charred grill marks, but instead we got a piece of feta in aluminum foil with herbs, vegetables, olives and spices. And it was really, really good! For the main course I asked for fresh white fish, and the waiter then took me to their fresh catches and I got to choose the fish I wanted! I then asked for a side to go with the fish and he suggested deep fried zucchini and a garlic sauce. When I tasted it all it was perfect! The skin of the fish was salty and crispy and so, so good. The white meat was very tender and juicy. And if I ever have the option to choose between fried potatoes and fried zucchini again I'll definitely go for the zucchini. My wife ordered chicken souvlaki, but unfortunately it was very dry and not very flavorful. For dessert we were treated to water melon and some traditional Greek chocolate cake. But again, I had to go in to the restaurant to ask them to clear our table, and not once during our meal did anyone come and ask if everything was good.
