In July of 2024, I came to visit family relatives and friends in Greece with my husband (who is Greek) and we stayed in Athens for a week and here in Kalyvia for another week, before we went to visit Corfu for 2 weeks. We have eaten in popular tavernas and not so popular ones, touristy and locally ones, sometimes even very small papou giagia ones in villages and I must say this is perhaps the worst experience I had, so bad that I must go through all the troubles to make a review. We ate here twice, once late dinner and once lunch (on July 18th and 20th). First time we came in around 11:30pm and ordered grilled mushrooms, which the owner's daughter proposed, then she came out to tell us there's no mushroom but we can have grilled zucchini, we agreed. Later, she brought us a plate of UTTER BLACKNESS. I know that Greeks grill a lot, but I have NEVER seen a plate of blackness like that before and there is no way we can eat that fully and completely burned zucchini. My husband, being a nice person himself, tried one piece and said no there's no way we can have it. He looked disappointed because he felt that his grandma's home town taverna was doing a very poor job. I called them over to tell them there's no way we can eat that, they made us a new plate, less burned but still quite dark. We ate some, and left quite a lot. This can be seen from my photo attached where our kid fell asleep on the dinning table, by the right corner. You can see how dark that food is. This dish was 8 euro. The second time, my kid and I went there to eat lunch around 2:30pm while husband was away to get his cousin from Karditsa. He told us to eat here because servers speak English, which is true, both owner's children speak English and they are very polite. This time child and I each ordered "meat sauce spaghetti" because the daughter explained this one is a slow cooked meat over pasta. When she brought the plates to us, we were really surprised -- the pasta had no visible meat nor tomato sauce nor anything, all I see was a "dark gravy not very thick". When I tasted it, I can tell there are some spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon, and TONS OF SALT. This dish was 11 euro and she brought us the bill in the end of each becoming 13 euro because of "tax". We paid and we left and although I know we will most likely never be in Kalyvia again but this experience has made me feeling unsettled. In Kerkira, where we ate seafood pasta in a popular local restaurant, it charged me 9 euro. In Plaka of Athens a very nice Bolognese pasta was 12 euro. I have plenty of reasons to understand the prices in these places and what they gave me was meeting my expectations. Here in this small village up Lake Plastira where you see very few foreign tourists, a plate of cooked pasta with running water and a dark gravy without any actual substances visible charged me 13 euro, this is beyond comprehension. We have lived in the US for many years and are currently working and living in China, we frequently visit 6 star hotels and sorry to let you know that even the Ritz Carlton's restaurant doesn't charge this way and if you serve this kind of "food" you can just shut down soon because a bad reputation would quickly build up and there's no way people would come. Last thing to tell the owner of the taverna: the Greek people are very forgiving and tolerating folks, this is why you can survive so many years with this horrible understanding of restaurant quality so be grateful to them and think hard about how to do better food.

Ο κόκορας κρασατος ήταν πεντανόστιμος,ενώ τρομερά value for money είναι η "στάμνα". Το προσωπικό ήταν ευγενεστατο και πάρα πολύ φιλικό. Κάποια πολύ μικρά παράπονα ωστόσο, ενώ το κρέας ήταν άψογο, τα συνοδευτικά (χυλοπίτες) ήταν λίγο κρυα και η σάλτσα λειψή, ενώ δεν σερβίρονταν επιδόρπιο. Παρόλα αυτά έχει όμορφη παραδοσιακή διακόσμηση και πεντακάθαρες τουαλέτες που γυαλιζαν , και την προτείνω ανεπιφύλακτα σε όποιον επισκεφθεί τα Καλύβια Πεζούλας 🌞

Nice and cozy place. It is really crowded so you have to be patient. Meat was well cooked, everything from their butcher shop. It also serves deers.

Βρεθήκαμε ανήμερα 15αυγουστο, 4 άτομα έχοντας κάνει κράτηση. Μας ζήτησαν να είμαστε στο μαγαζί στις 13.00 και είμασταν 13.15.

Είχε ήδη αρκετό κόσμο. Αναμενόμενο τέτοια μέρα. Αρχικά ρωτηθήκαμε αν είμαστε έτοιμοι για παραγγελία ενώ δεν μας είχε φέρει κανένας καταλόγους ούτε μας είχε πει κάποιος προφορικά έστω τι υπάρχει ή τι δεν υπάρχει. Ήρθαν οι κατάλογοι έγινε κ η παραγγελία κάποια στιγμή η οποία περιελάμβανε κ 2 μερίδες μπιφτέκια γεμιστά κ 2 μερίδες κοντοσούβλι. Ήρθαν τα "πρώτα" κ μετά από καθυστέρηση μεγαλύτερη της 1 ώρας ήρθαν τα "κυρίως". Όχι και τόσο προσεγμένα αφού το χοιρινό κοντοσούβλι ήταν σχετικά στεγνό κ προφανώς "περίμενε" αρκετή ώρα ώστε να έχει ψιλοκρυώσει. Τα μπιφτέκια δε παρόμοια ΑΛΛΑ δεν ήταν γεμιστά! Κοιτάξαμε την απόδειξη κ είχαν χρεωθεί ως "γεμιστά". Ενημερώσαμε το σερβιτόρο και δε ζητήσαμε τίποτα άλλο παρά να μην μας τα χρεώσουν ως γεμιστά. Ευγενέστατος ο κύριος δέχτηκε το λάθος ζήτησε συγγνώμη κ είπε πως θα ενημερώσει. Συνεχίσαμε κ πήραμε κ μια μερίδα κοκορέτσι το οποίο κ αυτό ήρθε σχετικά κρύο αλλά οκ. Αναμενόμενο λόγω της ημέρας κ του πολύ κόσμου. Κάποια στιγμή έρχεται ο σερβιτόρος κ μας φέρνει κ μισό κιλό αρνί σούβλας. Του λέμε ότι δεν το έχουμε παραγγείλει εμείς κ μας λέει "κερασμένο από τη μαγείρισσα" (ο πατέρας μου πηγαίνει συχνά κ ψωνίζει κ από το κρεοπωλείο τους) και πραγματικά ήταν καλό. Σκεφτήκαμε πως μπορεί να ήταν λόγω του λάθους με τα μπιφτέκια κ μάλιστα είναι κ ένα ακριβό πιάτο.

Μετά από 5-10 λεπτά, έρχεται κ μια κοπέλα που σέρβιρε και μας αφήνει μια επιπλέον απόδειξη 16€ και φεύγει... ήταν για το μισό κιλό αρνί σούβλας. Υπήρξε μια αμηχανία... Λέμε, κάπου έγινε κάποιο λάθος!

Όταν ήρθε η ώρα να πληρώσω μου είπαν το ποσό το οποίο περιελάμβανε τόσο το Αρνί Σούβλας όσο και τα Μπιφτέκια Γεμιστά (ενώ είχαμε ενημερώσει πως ήταν απλά κ να μη μας τα χρεώσουν παραπάνω). Είπα στον κύριο στο ταμείο τόσο για το "κερασμένο" αρνί σούβλας όσο κ για τα μπιφτέκια που ήταν απλά κ χρεώθηκαν ως γεμιστά. Ρώτησε άμεσα μέσα που του το επιβεβαίωσαν κ έγινε η αφαίρεση ...του αρνιού! Μέσα στον γενικότερο πανικό τα μπιφτέκια χρεώθηκαν ως "γεμιστά" αλλά και εκνευρίστηκα και βαρέθηκα να πω 3η φορά για τα μπιφτέκια... Πήγαμε για να φάμε, αποδεχόμενοι τις οποίες καθυστερήσεις κλπ λόγω της ημέρας. Να γίνει και ένα λάθος, ανθρώπινο είναι. Αλλά ΔΕΝ οφείλω να διορθώνω επανειλημμένα το μαγαζί... Ερχόμαστε κ εμείς σε δύσκολη να θέση να διορθώνουμε ξανά κ ξανά έναν επαγγελματία! Είναι άβολο από ένα σημείο κ έπειτα...

Εν τέλει, δεν πληρώσαμε το αρνί μεν αλλά τα μπιφτέκια χρεώθηκαν κ πληρώθηκαν ως γεμιστά κ δεν έκανα άλλη κουβέντα για τα 4€ για να πάω να φύγω!

Έχουμε ξαναβρεθεί παλιότερα στο μαγαζί, δεν είχε τόσο κόσμο κ ήταν ικανοποιητικά τα πιάτα, χωρίς καθυστερήσεις κ χωρίς λάθη.

Κατά την ταπεινή μου γνώμη, αφού υπάρχει πρόβλημα να εξυπηρετηθεί όλος αυτός ο κόσμος κ υπάρχουν καθυστερήσεις, ελλείψεις κ λάθη, να υπάρχουν λιγότερα καθίσματα... ας πούμε τα 2/3 όσων υπάρχουν τώρα και ο φόρτος της δουλειάς για την κουζίνα κ το σέρβις να είναι διαχειρίσιμος. Δεν είναι κακό να πεις στον πελάτη "είμαστε γεμάτοι" μέχρι κ το "πήγαινε αλλού, γίνεται χαμός κ δε θα μπορέσουμε να σε εξυπηρετήσουμε ικανοποιητικά" παρά να τον δεχτείς κ να γίνονται...

Πήγαμε παρέα τεσσάρων ατόμων Κυριακή μεσημέρι και σχετικά νωρίς (όχι σε καποιο τριήμερο,μια απλή Κυριακή).Ρωτήσαμε με τι συνοδεύονται τα πιάτα της ώρας και μας είπαν ρύζι και πατάτες. Στο ένα πιάτο που παραγγείλαμε ήρθαν και τα δύο στο δεύτερο μόνο πατάτες. Παραγγείλαμε μοσχάρι στη στάμνα (είχα φάει πριν δυο χρόνια και ήταν υπέροχο). Ήρθε το φαγητό και εκτός του ότι καμία σχέση με το ίδιο φαγητό πριν δύο χρόνια, έλειπαν οι μελιτζάνες. Φωνάξαμε την κοπέλα και η απάντηση ήταν: ότι ήταν για κάποιον άλλο το φαγητό που δεν ήθελε μελιτζάνες και όταν κατάλαβαν το λάθος φεραν άλλο αλλά είδαν ότι είχαμε ξεκινήσει το φαγητό και δεν το άφησαν,κάτι που εμείς δεν το είδαμε. Και τι να κάνουμε αυτά συμβαίνουν όταν το μαγαζί έχει κόσμο. Απαράδεκτη απάντηση.Μας πρότειναν να φέρουν άλλο πιατο όταν ζητήσαμε λογαριασμό, δηλαδή κοροϊδία.Στο τέλος μας φεραν γλυκό και είπαν για να διορθώσουμε το λάθος μας, λες και δεν θα δίναν γλυκό και στους υπόλοιπους πελάτες. Λάθη γίνονται, άνθρωποι είμαστε,αλλά δεν απαντάνε απότομα και ειρωνικά για το δικό τους λάθος. Εδώ θέλω να προσθέσω ότι ήμασταν οι πρώτοι που μπήκαμε στον εσωτερικό χώρο του μαγαζιού. Έξω ήταν 3-4 παρεες. Στη συνέχεια ήρθαν και άλλοι μέσα και μας προσπερασαν και στη παραγγελία (ενώ παραγγείλαμε πρωτοι, σερβιριστηκαμε δευτεροι). Επίσης το απαράδεκτο ήταν οι δεκάδες (για να μη εκατοντάδες)μυγες που είχε το κατάστημα στον εσωτερικό χώρο, παλεύαμε με τις μύγες για να φάμε και η απάντηση του καταστήματος ήταν ότι ο καιρός είναι ακόμα ζεστός, ναι αλλά ήταν μέσα σε εσωτερικό χώρο. Λυπάμαι πολύ γιατί πριν δύο χρόνια είχα ευχαριστηθεί πολύ το φαγητό σε αυτό το μαγαζί και τώρα που επέμενα στην παρέα μου να πάμε εκεί...
