Il Porto Taverna — Restaurant in Lefkada Municipality

We went here on a recommendation with the tuna being the main attraction. It was so good we went back the next night. The next night was even better! Probably the best restaurant we have been to in the Ionion and that’s saying something. Absolute star of the restaurant is their Tuna Souvlaki which is to die for. But tuna steaks and prawns were also superb. Starter surprise best dish were the mushrooms. They narrowly beat the chilli cheese, fried zucchini and saganaki cheese. The best tuna in the whole Ionian Sea. And not any type of tuna, bluefin tuna.

I have been professionally sailing in the area since 2016. I am picking restaurants for my guests, based strictly on my guests' reviews. For the majority of my trips, IL Porto is their favourite restaurant.

Lovely, authentic place. Given the resources on this small island the food is fantastic. Setting the right expectations, before dining here is important. Focus on the highlight, which is the bluefin tuna.

We loved it. Came in for lunch staying in the bay nearby. Fish soup was not yet available as it needs time cooking I understand. However, grilled prawns and grilled sardines were excellent. I liked particularly that they came with lovely boiled potatoes and capers, all with lemon juice. Much nicer than chips you get elsewhere! We’d like to pop back again for tuna...
