Highlights: • ❌ Poor food quality masked with excessive seasoning • 🤷♂️ No effort to provide authentic or fresh local cuisine • 😒 Rude and dismissive customer service • 🙄 Favoritism toward “regulars” or friends of the owners • 😠 Hostile attitude when handling a simple card payment issue • 🧭 Relies on location and tourist traffic, not on quality or hospitality
Review:
We visited this family-run Greek tavern with a group of 9 people. The food was disappointing — it felt more like frozen meals flavored with Asian-style spices. The seasoning seemed designed to mask the average quality of the ingredients, rather than highlight them. This was unexpected, especially in a region known for authentic Greek cuisine based on natural flavors, fresh vegetables, and good-quality local meat.
The location is strategic, right on a road leading to a cluster of villas, ensuring a steady stream of tourists. So the owners don’t seem to bother “investing” in quality food and rely instead on masking their meals with spices.
The overall average gastronomy experience was further ruined by strange and inconsistent customer service. We had booked in advance and were the first to arrive, but were seated at a table directly in the sun. When we politely asked to move to a shaded one, the owner’s wife responded with resistance and a string of unconvincing excuses. It soon became clear that better tables were being reserved for customers they seemed to know personally.
At the end of the evening, a delay during card payment — due to a connection issue — turned awkward. The owner’s tone suddenly became unfriendly. When her husband (the chef) came out, he dismissed us by saying, “I don’t care what these customers are saying,” right in front of us. That was shocking and disappointing.
I hope they read this and understand that even one-time guests deserve respect. Otherwise, it truly feels like a “friends...
Read moreGot recommended here by our taxi driver when the place we were originally headed to for dinner was unexpectedly closed and it was clearly meant to be as the food, atmosphere and service were all fantastic. We were met with a friendly greeting and were sat promptly, though advised there was a slight wait for food due to a large table arriving just ahead of us. We ordered starters and mains and when the first course arrived we were blown away by the presentation and generous portion sizes. We were also given the choice between bread and dips or garlic bread for the table and ordered the garlic bread which was very quickly devoured! I ordered the Saganaki with Vodka and Lime followed by the Smoked Salmon Tagliolini and in both dishes the flavours all perfectly complemented each other. Both dishes were also piping hot upon arrival. I'm not sure I could recommend this place enough and will certainly be coming back when my belly has managed to deflate back down to a...
Read moreA genuine warm welcome. Not s busy night so given the choice of seats. It was ideal. We started with the most delightful garlic breads - like little buns - fused with garluc, cheese and a secret ingredient - it worked. Wonderful. Hubby chose steak - deliciously cooked served with grilled pepper, chips and an optional sauce, Val had homemade Moussaka from daily specials - hot and delicious, I chose fillet of fish from daily specials too - oven baked with potatoes+ veg, very tasty. We then ( although quite satisfied) HAD to try the homemade orange pie (cake to some of us) with ice-cream. Well us two girls ate some + hubby had a wonderous time sharing ours too. A good, friendly welcome, which made our first night out eating experience in Nidri, Greece area a great start. A great stop off for good coffee, assortment of lunch choices ir like us a great dinner venue. Remind you of the name Kato Rahoula Restaurant. Dont...
