Hit and Miss. I take an opposite view to the majority of the reviews for this restaurant. We visited as a group of 10. Great beach side location with stunning views across the water to the mainland. The menu, when compared to many other places we’ve visited, is limited, but offers meats, salads and seafood. To the food. The big hit was the 500 gram pork steak, brought the table on a frame, overhanging the plate generously loaded with chips. And a shout out for the linguini bolognaise and the aubergine saganaki, both rated as very tasty and good value. The Misses. Skip the chicken fillet. Dry and tasteless. And for a restaurant next to lapping waves, the seafood dishes were a major disappointment. The mussels were over salted, failing to please. But the biggest disappointment was the grilled octopus; three legs chargrilled to the point of bitterness, on a plate with a single lettuce leaf and a slice of lemon. That was it. For 20 euros. I talked with the waiter about the dish and the value. He claimed it was a good price, but for me, he'd make it four pieces. The dish was taken away. 15 minutes later a new plate arrived, with 3 pieces, not the 4 offered. It’s unlikely I’ll ever pass by this way again. If I do I’ll be finding somewhere else for dinner.

A Hidden Gem Full of Heart and Flavor! Varka Family Cooking & Art is hands down one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted like family—and it truly feels like you’re stepping into someone’s warm and welcoming home. The atmosphere is cozy and artistic, with beautiful handmade touches that reflect the heart and soul of the owners. The food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish is prepared with love and care, using fresh, authentic ingredients that celebrate traditional Greek flavors. You can taste the passion in every bite. The slow-cooked meats were tender and flavorful, the handmade breads and spreads were out of this world, and don’t even get me started on the desserts—divine! This isn’t just a meal; it’s a cultural experience. Between the storytelling, the art on the walls, and the deep sense of hospitality, Varka is a place where food, family, and creativity come together in the most beautiful way. If you’re visiting the area, do not miss this place. It’s a true treasure. Bravo to the Varka family for creating something so special!

I have lived on Lefkada island for 2 years and always heard how good this taverna was. I finally made it last week and it did not disappoint!! My friend and I started with a couple of margaritas which were so delicious we had another round. We had starters, their tzatziki which has something special going on with its recipe because it was delicious and the bruschetta with Roquefort cream and botarga - a fish roe we knew nothing about but the waiter could tell us all about it - absolutely fascinating. Mains we went for meat, beef steak and the pork fillet - both were superbly cooked and delicious. We also had some delicious red wine and overall food and drinks were 5 star. The service though was what we particularly loved - the waiters are family and friends from Patras and each had their own personalities completely different to the other and we absolutely loved it!! All were wonderful and I can’t wait to go back 💕
