We have been yesterday here to test this tavern. We passed often before and said today is time. We have been a group of 6 persons plus dog. We were placed down to the fountain and greeted nicely. The owner?! Took our orders very professional and even checked if he did not forget an order. So far so good. The location is as often reviewed very beautiful as long as no cars get parked in front of view in the corner. The day was windy... means everything loose got flying away. First one menu but okay. Then the young waiter braught plates ,knifes, forks, hatipezettes and bread. Here it starts:First they forgot to put on our tables the white linnon covers as on the other tables.just that cheap papercover. The bread was delivered in small paperbags as from a bakery and "thrown" to the table. No dip, no oil, nothing. Under any common standart, especially if they charge 1 euro each person. ( better would be: bread 2 slices each person minimum and a small plate with oil olive(-s/-paste) or shredded tomatoes with oregano) The silverware was delivered in ridiculous paperbags as in a cheap cantina or airplane. Worst is it was printed" we save the nature"! Better would be : DO NOT USE THAT! Silverware and pezettes in a cup or glas or just serve them nicely to the guest without anything. Its not more unhygienic! Jar of water from the spring you have to ask for otherwise you get bottled. Then came my beer... in a metal can! In a tavern! Here belongs glassbottles! But the xarma beers came in cold glasses. Especially on that kind of windy days. Not only my can started flying also on the neighbourtables i have seen softdrinkcans flying away and the guests bareley catched them. Then came the first salad. I was wondering " is that a half portion or seniors portion?"see picture. The deep plate was not even full. In that case clearly overpriced. elsewere we get for that money a minimum double amount with more than the double ( plus a full slice not triangle of 12-15mm of feta)this triangle was even on one side just 5mm thick on the other 10. Than appeared the second salad that portion was okay. Much bigger plate and more full... why? See picture. The ordered red beets came with a ton of onions even if we ordered all salads without onions... but okay luckily we had 2 persons that accepted onions, because we did not want to make it too big deal. Later came the grilled meats. But the plates were disappointing. Tiny amounts of potatoes. For that money i expect full plate ( double amount) I ordered without and got instead 5 small pieces of a lollo salad where the half was flying away on the way to the table. Meats were tasty , but very small portions. Souvlaki portion is normally 15-18 pieces of meat ( 3 wooden sticks) here were 7 on a metal stick. Slightly dry and no sauce as yoghurt or salsa. Just loveless one stick plus potatoes and 1/8 lemon. Childrens portion for high price in medium quality. My pork brizola was 12mm thin( on the bone) 10 in the middle. Very dry! Too thin to grill for paying guests. But taste okay. The lamb fron the oven needed the longest time ... 2 guests on our table got the food as 2 have been nearly ready eating. Again few potatoes. And more bones and fat on the 2 pieces of lamb. This could be better... do not tell that should be as this. Mist taverns cut the worst away before cooking. Luckily the fat and collagen was for the dog. As we asked the bill came classic 100ml raki and some pieces of watermelon. And then the shock;-) 130 euros for 6 persons and the owner did not accept to pay in 4 seperate parts.
Result: tiny portions compared with most other taverns and around 30% higher prices for this value. Medium quality.
We hope the owner thinks about this. Potatoes are not expensive and sauce for meats, too. Thake the money that you can save on paperbags.;-) If we see better portions on pictures , with comments of juicy meats, we would love to give a second chance with higher rating. We are not " one time visitors"...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Filenia, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. The rustic decor and cozy ambiance perfectly complement the traditional Greek cuisine. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, each prepared with the freshest local ingredients. The flavors are authentic and rich, truly reflecting the essence of Greek culinary traditions. I highly recommend trying the lamb souvlaki and the moussaka—both were absolutely divine. The presentation of the dishes was also exquisite, showcasing the attention to detail that goes into every meal. What really sets Filenia apart, though, is the exceptional service. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share their love for Greek culture and cuisine. They made sure that our dining experience was perfect from start to finish. Overall, Filenia is a gem of a restaurant that offers an authentic taste of Greece in a warm and welcoming setting. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this is a place you don’t want to miss. Five stars...
Read moreI recently dined at Filenia, and while the food quality was decent, I couldn’t help but feel that it was significantly overpriced for what was offered. The menu boasted a variety of dishes with creative descriptions, but the execution didn’t quite match the price tag. Portions were modest, and while the presentation was visually appealing, the flavors were good but nothing extraordinary. The ambiance was pleasant, and the service was attentive, but again, not enough to justify the high cost. It’s the kind of place you’d visit for a special occasion or to impress someone, but I left feeling that I could have gotten a better culinary experience elsewhere for less. In short, Fileniadelivers decent food in a nice setting, but the prices left me expecting more. If you don't mind paying a premium for the atmosphere, it might be worth a visit, but for everyday dining, it's hard to recommend...
