A Wonderful Traditional Taverna Experience

We visited this lovely taverna in Greece with my family, and we were absolutely delighted. I'm from Serbia, and I must say we felt incredibly welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. The owner is very kind and hospitable, and the atmosphere is warm and authentic.

The food is truly excellent – everything is fresh, delicious, and prepared with care. This is not a place focused on tourists or just making money. It’s a genuine, traditional restaurant where the main priority is to make guests feel at home and enjoy their time.

We came here based on a recommendation from a friend who visited last year, and we’re so glad we listened – it exceeded all our expectations.

We highly recommend this taverna to anyone looking for a true Greek experience!

Souda beach is one of our favourites in the Plakias area, and we've spent a great deal of time down there. Most of it has included Galini and our experience has been all the better for it! As with many Cretan tavernas, it's family-run, and having got to know the family over a number of years we all love spending the day down there, and the nights come to think of it. Cocktails, drinks, coffee and snacks can be obtained right on the beach courtesy of the very friendly beach bar, and when you're ready for some shade and a spot of lunch, just wander up to the taverna for some great home-made fare! Once a week during the season, they also hold music and dance nights which are great fun. In short, no visit to Plakias would be complete without Galini Taverna, and we can't wait to return and catch up...

We went to Galini Tavern for its location, and left feeling full in our bellies and our hearts. The staff are super friendly and warm, and the dishes were full of the flavors of the island. I looked up at one point and the servers were chatting with guests at every table- you can’t help but feel like you are part of the family.
