What a dreadful experience we had. The owner and the staff couldn’t make our day worse. We are from Alexandroupolis but live abroad and we do visit our home town almost every year. Such a travesty never happened before. We parked and went to aqua mare. We sat and ordered making a consumption of almost 40 euros. At some point a couple of us took out a salad brought from home and started to eat. First arrived the waiter telling us to hide our food why. We asked why and he said is not allowed. We said we didn't know and he said there is the policy and we should stop eating. He left, we didn’t pay attention to ge honest as the manner was not right. He came back with ghe boss, the owner, Nicko, I believe, who was unbelievable rude, aggressive and of course bullying us. He kept saying there is a sign at the entrance but we kept explaining that we came by the side, just straight ahead from the parking where there is no sign. The said we should have entered by the front gate. How stupid? This is a beach and anyone can enter from anywhere. Ali they need to do is put up signs or even better advise the customers upon ordering. They called us all kind of names, the “boss” was even cursing in Turkish, he was very offensive and he even hit my uncle when he turned the lounger upside down. I asked him to call the POLICE but he didn’t He asked us to Re-Order if we wanted to stay. Hahaha If only all the customers made 40 euros consumption - most of them were there with just a coffee. He should be so lucky to have more like us. Don’t get me wrong, if we knew about the no food policy, we wouldn’t have done it. Also, if their manners were appropriate, we would have removed our salads and ordered more from them. I wonder why he didn’t call the police. I asked him three times but all he did was cursing in both Greek and Turkish. He is sooo lucky we didn’t.
As a rule: customers are not obliged to know your policies or guess them or try to find out what you may ir may not Make them aware and act like professionals and if this word is unknown to you, check a dictionary. The photos just show that there are no signs or any other notice from...
Read moreMy family and I had a deeply disappointing experience at this beach bar, despite having visited for many years. My father is originally from Alexandroupolis, and I’ve been coming to this beach since I was 7 years old. Unfortunately, unless there's a change in ownership, I won’t be returning.
We were a group of four adults and one small child. We ordered an iced coffee, a beer, three freshly squeezed juices, and a grilled cheese toast—our bill came to 32€. My mother had also brought a small portion of homemade pasta salad, bread, and cheese for us to snack on.
Without any warning or polite explanation, the owner abruptly approached us and demanded we leave the sunbeds, accusing us of violating a rule against bringing outside food. Had this policy been communicated respectfully, we would have gladly complied. Instead, he immediately resorted to shouting, creating a public scene and even flipping over our table, scattering our food and drinks. His behavior was aggressive, inappropriate, and deeply embarrassing. To make matters worse, he insulted my cousin in both Greek and Turkish.
There is only one small sign at the main entrance mentioning the no-outside-food rule—which we didn’t see, as we entered from the parking lot on the side. We were completely unaware of any policy.
What made the situation even more absurd was seeing other guests behind us, who had ordered far less than we did—just two coffees totaling under 10€—yet they remained undisturbed. We had spent over three times that amount and were treated with hostility.
The owner’s outburst was irrational and immature, completely unbefitting someone in the hospitality business. His lack of professionalism and basic courtesy was shocking. I strongly recommend avoiding this establishment and instead walking a few steps further along the beach, where the atmosphere is friendlier and customers are treated with the respect...
Read moreWe visited Aqua Mare in July with my family. I have visited many beach bars in Agia Paraskevi and have always had very positive experiences with the service and amenities. Unfortunately Aqua Mare was a horrible experience which ruined the peaceful day we had planned at the beach. The staff served us with respect but the owner/manager was rude, violent, vulgar and had no business dealing with customers. We ordered drinks and a sandwich for my grandson totaling about 35 euros. My husband took out a pasta salad that I had packed and within a few minutes the owner showed up screaming and yelling that we can't bring food to their beach bar. An altercation ensued with him attacking my husband, knocking over his chair and salad and screaming vulgarities. A customer had to hold him back. All he had to do is politely tell us that we can't bring our own food and we would have complied. As an aside some customers around us simply had a coffee worth about 5 euros while we spent over 35 euros. The next day we went to a neighboring beach bar and had a wonderful experience. Aqua Mare deserves to go out of business or hire a...
