Staying in the local resort the food becomes a bit repetitive after a while. We had a lucky break one afternoon with my child sleeping in the buggy so we headed out to this local taverna on the beach and we did not regret it. Relaxing with great food, we had a wonderful lunchtime here. To start the young man who served us, potentially the owners son, spoke perfect English. Not something expected, we are in Greece after all, however very appreciated! He recommend dishes and was very clear on fresh v frozen items for us. Don't let frozen put you off though as the fried squid was crispy in big chunky pieces but nice and soft. A highlight was the cuttlefish stewed in wine. Absolutely tender and delicious but also unique, I have never tasted it before and really enjoyed it. Despite being different countries many miles away the closest thing I could describe it like was a Japanese dish of cuttlefish stewed in Sake. A recommend highlight i have to say and the picture is attached. For fresh fish we went for grilled sardines, caught i was told just nearby and fresh and delicious they were indeed. My 2.5yr old son, after removing the bones, enjoyed these also, alongside the traditional Crete Salad, which here uses the correct local cheese when our resort instead used feta. A beautiful hidden gem that offers the best service, delicious food and breathtaking view of the sea. 🙂

We were on our way to Frangokastello and decided to stop here for our lunch-break where we were met with the kindest and most profesional service. The portions of food are very big and even if we were very hungry, we were not able to finish everything. Must-try the traditional sausages.

We randomly found this restaurant, but we really liked atmosphere of the place. Altough it is situated by the road, it is quiet since it is not touristy place. Only few steps from the nice sandy beach Kiani aktiv. You have nice view of the beach and sea when you are there. Typical greek taverna with delicious food.
