We stumbled across this little taverna in Nipos and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It’s a simple, family-run place with such a welcoming atmosphere that you feel like you’ve been invited into someone’s home.

The food was fantastic - fresh, generous and full of flavour. We ordered mixed grill and I’ve honestly never seen so much meat in my entire life. Cretan cheese was delicious, their house wine is absolutely beautiful. Everything was cooked with love, no frills, just proper Cretan cooking.

What made it even more special was the kindness of the owner. He brought us free raki at the end of the meal, which felt like such a genuine gesture of hospitality. Sitting there in the warm evening, sipping raki after such a good dinner, we felt truly welcomed to this tiny village.

The best food that we had on the island and in Greece, ever. We have tried kebab, souvlaki, grill roasted lamb, chicken & pork, and slowl cooked lamb with greens. Also, greek salad and tsatziki were beautiful. Out of 9 days, we have dine in 5 times here only for how good, cheap, and tasty the food was. The owners are lovely, and they are willing to present and explain the menu with patience. I definitely recommend this...
