This was the worst place i dined in during my visit to crete. I ordered a burger and after 50 minutes i asked where is my burger and the annoying boy waiter said "its coming in 2 minutes" and after another 10 minutes my food arrived. It was in fact not a burger it was a beef steak filled with onions and other veggies and on the side there were a few fries, red onions, tomatoes and sourcream. I asked him wheres my burger and the rude waiter said "this is the burger" i told him no this is not a burger this is a steak. He answered: Ohh youre thinking of a hamburger this is not a hamburger its a burger. So i googled burger and showed him a traditional burger and he persisted that i was wrong and that i got what i ordered. So after 1 hour of waiting for my burger i got something completely different instead. The actual steak wasnt bad its just not at all what i ordered and it took too long. Also the prices of drinks were kinda absurd compared to other establishments. The "burger" was 12 euros and it was a very small portion and i also ordered a coke and they brought me a 0.25l coke for the price of 2.50e which is a very expensive coke. The waiter didnt seem to know how to put the paper cover on the table and did a really bad job with it causing the paper cover to almost fly off until i saved it and put it on the table a bit better than he did. We just stopped by for a mere breakfast on our way to go hiking in the mountains and what was supposed to be a quick stop for food turned into 1 hour and 30 minutes of being pissed off at the service and the food. Never been so disappointed in a...
Read moreWe don't normally write reviews, but after visiting this Taverna (ΚΆΠΡΙ KAPRI) next to Vrysses river, we felt that we had no choice.... Service was, quite literally, some of the worst we've ever experienced anywhere, and it wasn't even particularly busy!
None of the staff showed any interest in serving us, and when they did, it was almost with distain. They just dropped (literally) the bagged cutlery in a pile in front of one of us, and then proceeded the same with the plates!
Party of five, and everyone's order came out at hugely differing times, so much so, that it took a further 50 painful minutes to get the rest of the order after everyone else had finished their respective snack! All this despite asking the staff twice when the remainder of the order was coming, and just getting an 'in one minute' reply! We didn't go there expecting a Michelin 5-star experience, but at the same time, not to be treated so badly!
To add insult to injury, they massively overcharged us against what we'd ordered. At this point, we didn't even want to contest the bill, so we paid and left! If you're happy putting up with diabolical service & 'over inflated prices, for gullible tourists', then feel free to eat there! If not, we'd definitely recommend that you...
Read moreDespite reading both good and bad reviews about this place, we decided to visit, mainly drawn by the beautiful landscape of the small river. Unfortunately, the famous Antikristo dish was not available on Saturday, which was surprising given that Saturday is typically one of the busiest days. Instead, we ordered other traditional Greek dishes, "gemista" and "moussaka," which we found to be quite average and disappointing.
Additionally, the restaurant's children were taking orders and serving customers. While it’s common in Greece for children to help in family businesses, these children were not properly trained. As a result, we weren't informed about the daily specials or available menu items, making the overall experience less smooth. As a paying customer, this was quite frustrating.
I do not recommend this place at all. Instead, if you want to enjoy the scenery, have a cup of coffee or tea at one of the cafes by the river. For excellent food, look for another restaurant on TripAdvisor with consistently...
