We had the pleasure of dining at one of the best grill restaurants in Corfu. The concept of serving the meat in paper was truly amazing and added a unique touch to the dining experience. We visited Lathokolla, a traditional village taverna that came highly recommended by a local. The setting was lovely and the atmosphere felt authentic. Most of the food was good, fresh and home-cooked, though it was a bit hit or miss. For example, the pork souvlaki wasn’t quite as traditional as the other dishes, and the quality varied, some pieces were great, others a bit dry and tough.

The main issue, however, was the service. Our starters took around 40 minutes to arrive, and our mains followed nearly an hour later, served 10–15 minutes apart, which made it hard for our family to enjoy the meal together.

We gave feedback to the staff, but unfortunately it wasn’t received well. They were defensive, and the chef came out to have a discussion that felt unnecessarily confrontational. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
