Ταβέρνα Γαλήνη — Restaurant in Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands

We were looking for a taverna outside big city and obviously this is a great choice. There is a small parking in front of the restaurant. There is no big rush and when we arrived only one table was occupied. Run by local family.

The atmosphere is amazing, it’s located in the village.

Tzatziki were tasty, not only youghurt but enough cucumber, olive and nice, dense texture, I reccommend.

Bread was standard bread from the supermarket put on the grill, here nothing special. Would be worth to enrich it with some cheese or garlic.

Souvlaki were quite good, not too dry, portion solid, not too big, not too small. It’s not chicken breast but chicken thigh.

Fish was tasty, aromatic but not the best on Corfu as I’ve read in other review. It was just fine but grilled for too long which made outer layer not eatable due to dark burned parts and the meat inside was slightly too dry due to long frying. It was so so.

We wanted to order moussaka and fish soup as we were attracted to these positions in the menu but they were out of stock :( This left slight dissapointement and I believe they should inform about this upfront especially that menu is very short.

All in all, I reccomend this place but I give only 5 stars when I would come back, this place didn’t left me with that feeling that’s why 4 stars. Worth trying but keep in mind that it’s rather location and atmosphere that makes this place unique and not the best top taste of food on all...

We were at aqualand park, and initially planned to grab some fast food for lunch at the park stands, but the line was so long we gave up and looked for somewhere else. Maps had this taverna at about 10 mins ride, and wow it was spot on.

One of the best taverna we have ever been to, with an amazing welcome by Katerina and the owner chef, who prepared this delicious food.

Amazing tzantziki, haloumi, fried eggplant was unreal good, even after hours, lamb chops and moussaka - all big portions and cooked to perfection - and everything is home made, and you can definitely feel it.

Excellent little tavern, the staff were super nice and the general vibe of the place was really great and peaceful. Prices are also very reasonable. I had the grilled octopus, which tasted great and wasn't chewy at all. The presentation looked a little sad, but ultimately what matters most is how the food tastes. All my friends were also very pleased with their dishes. Before leaving we also received some watermelon and melon cubes on the house, which was a very nice gesture. To sum it up - fantastic place and I recommend...
