This place? It's been my go-to for years, and I can't believe I haven't left a review until now.

Let's get one thing straight from the start: this is my ideal taverna. And it's got two major aces up its sleeve. It nails both the meat and seafood game, whether it's on the grill or in the pan. Whether it's the small, fresh fish like bacalao or koutsomoura, or the fantastic païdakia (lamb chops), biftekia (burgers), delicious loukaniko (sausage), and tender sykoti (liver), they've got you covered.

Think of it as your classic, old-school taverna. A place where you're part of the family, where the food's as authentic as it gets, and they don't mess around with fancy experiments. It's all about pure flavors, quality ingredients, reasonable prices, and that warm, friendly vibe.

You'll find this gem tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in a purely residential area in Polydroso, right next to a square with a playground.

The space itself? It's simple, clean, no frills. But, honestly, it doesn't need to shout; the food and the taverna atmosphere do all the talking. Plus, there's a cozy outdoor area surrounded by plants that's a winner, even in the winter months.

Now, here's a pro tip: the sardines on the grill? Exceptional. And the baked chickpeas? You won't find better. The same goes for the fried potatoes and zucchinis – they're a must. And don't even get me started on the spicy cheese dip, horta, or the daily-changing pies – all excellent.

Prices? Totally fair.

Now, I've read some reviews about no meat or fish accompaniments. Well, that's their policy, folks. They make it clear from the get-go.

Weekend alert: If you're showing up on a Saturday night or Sunday noon, don't even think about it without a reservation. Heck, maybe pick another day if you want to avoid the madness.

⚠️Unpolite and unprofessional service! A terrible experience!

Visited with my family on a Sunday andordered for 6 people: Appetisers came in 15 minutes 2 portions of Fish came in 25 minutes 1 portion of pork chops came in 30 minutes 1 portion of pork fillets came in 55 minutes and was raw! 2 portions of burgers 1 came after complaining (exactly 1:15 minutes) and the 2nd never arrived!

Waiters were too busy to listen to me! Following my complaint to the owner/manager on the raw filets portions & the delay on the burgers he was really unpolite, raising his voice without apologising!

I have been to restaurants in 4 continents and never been treated with such a bad/unprofessional and unpolite manner!

Overconfidence and bad manners will definitely kill this business sooner or later!

Πήγαμε στην Ταβέρνα Μανώλης για φαγητό με τη σύζυγό μου. Μπήκαμε στην αυλή όπου μας υποδέχτηκαν με ευγένια 2 εργαζόμενοι. Μας έβαλαν σε ένα τραπέζι και ήρθαν άμεσα για παραγγελία. Το παιδί που μας πήρε την παραγγελία πάρα πολύ ευγενικό και φιλικό προς τον πελάτη καθόλη τη διάρκεια του γεύματος.

Παραγγείλαμε αρκετό φαγητό για δύο άτομα, αλλά να ξεκαθαρίσω ότι πάντα έτσι παραγγέλνουμε. Μας έφεραν 1l νερό εμφιαλωμένο (χωρίς να ρωτήσουν αν προτιμάμε βρύσης), μισό κιλό κρασί ροζέ, ψωμάκι ελαφρώς ψημένο με ελάχιστο λάδι και ενα μικρό πιατάκι τυροκαυτερή.

Μέτρια η τυροκαυτερή, το ψωμάκι απλώς καλό και το κρασί αξιοπρεπέστατο για χύμα. Μας φέρνουν μετά τα τηγανητά κολοκυθάκια και τις πατάτες, πραγματικά μέσα στο λάδι. Υπήρχε τόσο λάδι στον πάτο των πιάτων που δεν μπορούσες να τα φας ευχάριστα. Κρίμα, γιατί τα κολοκυθάκια ήταν αρκετά νόστιμα. Μετά ήρθαν τα κυρίως. Οι μερίδες τους δεν σερβίρονται με κανενός είδους γαρνιτούρα. Τίποτα απολύτως, ούτε λιγη σαλάτα, ενώ χρεώνονται όσο άλλα μαγαζιά χρεώνουν μια μερίδα που έχει και πατάτες. Πρώτα η καπνιστή χοιρινή, λίγο μικρή σε μέγεθος, αλλά πενταμάλακη και πολύ νόστιμη. Κόστος 12€, χωρίς ούτε λίγη ντομάτα κομμένη για συνοδεία. Μετά ήρθε η μοσχαρίσια γάλακτος. Αυτή ήταν πολύ μικρή και ανάλατη, όμως ήταν πάρα πολύ καλά ψημένη και πολύ τρυφερή. Φυσικά και δεν είχε τίποτα σαν γαρνιτούρα εκτός από ένα δείγμα λεμονιού. Κόστος 14€!!! Μετά ήρθαν τα παϊδάκια. Μισό κιλό 17€. Εντάξει, νορμάλ τιμή για Αθήνα και ήταν σχετικά καλά πλην του οτι ήταν σχεδόν ανάλατα. Σίγουρα έχω φάει και πολύ καλύτερα στην Αθήνα.

Ζητήσαμε λογαριασμό. 61,50€ (γελάσαμε λίγο). Όσοι με ξέρουν, γνωρίζουν ότι δε λυπάμαι τα λεφτά στο φαγητό, αλλά αυτό το μέτριο φαγητό σε μια ταβέρνα με εξίσου μέτριο χώρο, δε θα έπρεπε να το πληρώνεις πάνω από το πολύ 20€/άτομο. Όχι 31€ ανά άτομο! Και να προσθέσω ότι δεν μας έφεραν για κέρασμα τίποτα απολύτως. Θεωρώ ότι αυτό το μαγαζί θέλει απλώς να κερδίζει όσο περισσότερο από τον πελάτη, χωρίς να του δίνει κάτι αντίστοιχο αυτού που πληρώνει. Για εμένα, το συγκεκριμένο μαγαζί, έχει σβήσει. Προφανώς δεν είναι ο σκοπός μου να τους στεναχωρήσω ή να τους προσβάλλω. Απλώς παραθέτω τη δική μου εμπειρία και την καθαρά...
