CREAT local street food — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

do not order fries from creat.

we came to the airport hungry and we saw a couple of people eating fries so needless to say we had to get out greedy hands on said fries. they had them under the head lamp behind the glass - you know like they sometimes have cakes for show but then they get you a fresh one out the back when you order it.

my friend ordered 3 sets of fries before we had chance to look at the price. 7 euros each. per punnet of a medium sized fries about the same size as mcdonald’s, actually probably less than that. but we thought “it’s okay, it’s just airport prices” and it was too late to take it back, us being british and all. so the server took the fries from under the heat lamp and put the fries into some kind of heating device. i thought maybe like the merry chef oven that gets your food to the temperature of the sun in 30 seconds. but it was a microwave.

she microwaved the fries for 30 seconds then handed them to us. we paid: 25 euros for 3 fries and a bottle of water.

let me tell you it was a good job we got the water. they were exactly how you would imagine microwaved fries that had been sitting under a head lamp would be. dry and impossible to swallow without pulling very sad face. we had to beg for some salt. we ate about 4 fries each before conceding that this was all a terrible mistake.

Wow, that was definitely the worst food I ever had. It tasted like someone really tried to make the meal taste bad. I'd go into details but I don't even know where to start. The meat was low quality and dry, the bread tasted like rubber and felt like that in your mouth, the fries were hard as stone but still undercooked on the inside and no seasoning was used. I'd continue but I guess you get the idea... The staff was very nice though and that is the only reason I feel very sorry that I have to give just one star.

AVOID

I stupidly didn’t read reviews before I bought something here.

Firstly the staff member serving me was very impatient.

Secondly the prices were criminally high.

Thirdly, and most importantly, my ham and cheese baguette was rancid. I bought it and stored it for later (we had been told there were no snacks on our flight). When I eventually bit into it I instantly spat it out and gagged for fifteen minutes. The ‘ham’ in it had clearly gone off and had clear white marks. It tasted incredibly bad too.

I should mention too that I’m pregnant, so this has caused all kinds of anxiety and a doctor’s check up today to ensure I was ok as I retched so hard I got severe stomach...
