So, we had (me and my friends) some starters such as hot cheese, zuchini balls and cheese balls, the hot cheese we thought it was going to be like melted or something but it wasn't that it was like a cream with feta in it, so then we thought it would be spicy such that the spice would be the "hot" from the menu but it wasn t spicy either so yeah it wasn t anything from what the menu said, then the cheese balls were straight up frozen ones and just reheated, and even those weren't that heated, they were atroucious and last the zuchinni balls were the worst i had in my life, they were the first with mint in them, and i ve had zuchini balls in greece and here in crete also many many times, and they were kinda raw to be honest also. The only good part in the food was the meat, to be more specific the pork souvlaki (that s what i had), it was good although it would have been nice to put more fries with it, and also more salt as the meat didn t had any taste but after some salt it was good, nothing special. Regarding the service, the waiter was really slow and seem like he didn t care that much about the customers and also didn t understand...

Tucked inside a small village in rural Crete, this place is not your typical restaurant. In fact, it’s not a restaurant at all. It’s a family-run taverna, lovingly held together by a father and daughter — and if you come here, you need to understand where you’re coming.
This is not fine dining. This is not middle-class polished service. This is Greek family life — honest, warm, and generously served.
You’ll get true Cretan food, prepared right there by the same people who live in the building. The prices are almost unbelievable if you’re coming from northern Europe — and the portions are full of soul and authenticity. You might try a few dishes and realize: this is not cuisine, this is hospitality.
It feels like going to your Greek uncle’s house — the one who insists you eat more, while your cousin brings food to the table, and kids run around shouting outside. Yes, there are cats and dogs, and yes, it’s all part of the charm.
This place is raw, real, and full of character. If you’re looking for that rare, unfiltered Cretan experience — come here with an open heart and...

The pork souvlakis are pretty much the best I’ve ever tasted. The owner said I’ve never had a pork souvlaki like that in my dreams, and he was right! I also highly recommend trying Χάρμα beer. Unfortunately you can’t get it in a bottle anywhere (except maybe from the brewery itself?), but if I could I would bring it home and it would be my go-to beer. All the appetizers were delicious too. We tried the Cretan salad, fried zucchini, and cheese and spinach pies. It doesn’t get fresher or more authentic than this.
If you are on your way to the Marathi beach from Chania, or you are staying close to the village of Sternes, I can’t recommend stopping at this place enough.
Edit: We are here again in 2025. Everything is still absolutely incredible. There are some new menu options to try, all still authentic, and the people are just a...
