Taverna Giannis — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

We stayed close to this restaurant but isn't the only reason we went more than once. We went into chania but the food and service was second to none every time here. A shout out to all staff but pavlos was always present, when he wasn't at the gym. Thank you for everything chaps. You made the holiday for us, even with a table of 19 at times. If you are staying anywhere in chania, make the effort 100% worth it. Beautiful sunset beach just across the road, to make it even more worth the trip. Good work ladies and gents keep it going!!!! Pavlos if you ever come to England for the better gym's...

Here in this cozy restaurant on the harbor of Agios Onoufrios we had a delicious dinner. Super friendly hostess Ellen brought a large jug of cold water to the table right after we were seated. We ordered the tzatziki, the Cretan salad and we both had a fresh fish which we could choose from in the kitchen. It turned out to be a "fangri". I had never heard of, but he was lovely and came in a sauce with lemon, butter and fresh herbs. The Cretan salad also had fresh herbs, and the tzatziki was very good. When we asked for the bill, we were given some apples and a small bottle of raki....

Honestly the best shrimp saganaki I have trued so far. It’s worth stopping by just for this alone. And then we tried the cretan salad. Amazing quality of ingredients, thick mizithra cheese and fragrant kritamos make it a star of all salads. Unfortunately the steamed mussels were too salty to our taste, but the complimentary baklava (they brought it from somewhere in town) made up for it. Literally the best baklava ever.
