We moored here and were very happy. The owner and his children helped us and were very pleasant. We had a side table where we had drinks through the day and assembled for dinner in the evening. Before dinnertime two more yachts moored at the taverna (a large family group). The mooring was not free, it's a public dock, but we didn't expect it to be - we paid the fees, paid for electricity etc.
All was going well until it was time to eat. We were being mostly served by the son, who didn't speak a word of English (but again, was very nice! We just did a lot of charades). The food order was taken by the owner himself. The starters arrived with not enough plates. We asked for plates three times before we got them (maybe a language issue?). We asked for bread a few times. No one was coming to us, they actually seemed to avoid us completely as they were serving the other table. Once we noticed that everyone else was already eating mains, an hour after we ordered and got some of our dishes (long finished) we chased. Another 30min passed before we had enough and decided to go somewhere else. We told the owner that we won't be continuing our meal here as the wait was too long. He was then surprised to hear we're waiting for our dishes! He was the one who took the order and who thirty minutes earlier assured us that it will be out promptly. We could see the grill wasn't even started.
We asked for the bill for what we ate and were shocked to see that the owner tried to charge us for all the food that was ordered (that he presumably didn't remember taking an order for?) And we didn't receive! We had to make him sit down and go through the menu to show him what we actually consumed to sum up the items we were willing to pay for. Of course that turned out to be over €50 less than what the owner tried to charge us for. No apologies.
A horrible experience, unpleasant for all. We've been sailing around Greece for weeks now and haven't had a bad experience anywhere else. All the more disappointing as the tavern was recommended by our yacht's owner. We will make sure he doesn't recommend it to...
Read moreThe rating doesn't have to do with the quality of food but how the Taverna owners treated the non Greek captain of a catamaran who tried to moore his vessel in front of their taverna at a free spot. They didn't only refuse to help him by throwing the lines back to the boat, but when the captain finally decided to step on the dock and do it by himself, the Taverna owners started pushing him - actually they nearly threw him into the sea - and swearing at him with the worst possible words. Eventually, and after humiliating him in front of his family and his scared kids that were sitting at the bow watching the incident, the captain decided to leave the bay... Later I found out from one of the owners that the reason for this fight was that a flotilla group was expected to moore at the empty spots in front of the taverna and most probably in return the flotilla would eat there! 15-20 minutes later I was watching the flotilla mooring there! I called Epidavrus coast guard - who by the way are in charge of Korfos harbour - and explained them the incident. They told me that they would investigate it the next morning. This incident took place on Sunday the 14th of July 2019. Six days later that I am making this review I still haven't received any phone call from anyone from the coast guard asking me whatever about that. I would like to deeply apologize to the catamaran captain for this cruel behavior and tell him that we, the Greeks, are very friendly and helpful people, but like everything in life there are...
