Tavern Mani Mani — Restaurant in Municipality of East Mani

I recently visited this taverna in Gerolimenas, and while it offers a beautiful view of the area, the experience left much to be desired. The food was quite basic, with flavors that were far from outstanding. Although the service was friendly, I was disappointed to discover hidden charges on our bill.

We were surprised to see a charge for olive oil, something we neither requested nor used. When we pointed this out to the staff, their smiling reaction made it clear that this was a common practice. It's worth noting that under Greek law, establishments cannot charge for items like bread or other products unless the customer specifically asks for them. Best place you can find in this picturesque port. If you go high season, get embraced as all family run taverns are struggling. Thankfully, I enjoyed nice fried and grilled seasonal fish at what we call normal prices these days.

Hints Book a table on advance to sit literally by the sea and be able to have a dive between bites. Or glaze the sunset. Be prepared for stray cats and dogs to walk around. Music volume is extremely low to allow discussions. That's both good and bad. Prefer fresh grilled food , they served both fish and meat and local salads! I wonder how it s possible for this restaurant to have this rating. We ordered orzo with seafood which was obviously heated in a microwave. The worst part was that the seafood looked terrible with the mussels being discolored and dirty, the shrimps were black, the heads of the shrimps were thrown in the plate and it was disgusting. Once we figured that the plate was dangerous at best we stopped eating and I formed the waitress who was obviously aware of situation as she didn't even react.
