We had dinner at Veludo and it was by far the worst dinner we had in Mani. The experience started with disappointment as they brought us as a starter frozen square bread bites like the ones you have on cruise ships with a spicy watery feta cheese dip. That wasn’t really the “taste Mani” as advertised. When we challenged them about the bread and that Mani is so famous for the sourdough they said that there is no bakery in the village and that the Rd to Areopoli is dangerous for the staff to drive up and down every day to bring fresh bread in. We found that excuse really odd as other tavernas in the area have proper traditional bread
The tomatoes in Greek salad were off and the feta cheese very salty and tasted low quality. We had a carbonara pasta that tasted sour cooked with cream and was far off a real carbonara We also tried the grilled calamari that was unfortunately another disappointment as it was hard and chewy. A very bad experience Overpriced and not “ taste Mani “ as they claim There are great tavernas and restaurants around that you will pay half the price and you will definitely won’t get frozen bread bites reheated as a starter and much better...

Read moreWe had an exceptional dining experience at Veludo that left us eager to return. The ceviche, made with the fish of the day, was simply outstanding—one of the best I’ve ever had. The flavors of lemon zest and red pepper complemented the fresh fish beautifully. The octopus caramel was another highlight, served with caramelized onions and cooked to perfection—it’s rare to find octopus this tender. The crayfish orzo was delicious as well, though the starters truly stole the show. The service was warm and attentive, and we were delighted when the owner personally checked in to ensure we were enjoying our meal. The ambiance, with its seaside view and lovely music, made our evening even more special. As it’s their first year, I’m confident Veludo is on the path to great success. We can’t wait to come back! Congratulations to...
