Beautiful location with a suberb view of Kokkari. A French Cuisine with local products. It is nice to see that on Samos there is a restaurant able to do different things with the available products on the island. Our starters were great (Ceviche of Seabream and Shrimps with Salami and smoked mayonaise). It was well prepaired and the products were of high quality. Portioning was nice. The main courses were ok. The balance in the dishes could have been better. The vegetable/meet ratio could improve and also the intensities of some products were too high for the volume that was on the plate (especially the pork dish). Same goes for the desserts. The taste is all nice, but the balance is missing. Bread is served free of charge, but there is no (salted) butter or olive oil served with the bread which is a missed opportunity. We asked for the wine list but although they had a wide variety of wines, there was no lost presented. That resulted in that we had no idea of the prices of the wines served. That is okay if the prices are in range of the local habbits, but that's not the case in this restaurant. We will come back here but hope there will be some...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. Food is pricey and pretty bland taste. Everyone's Taste differs and that is understandable but what is beyond wrong is ordering a side of sweet potato (after asking the server if it's possible), sending it back because of it's poor taste but being fully prepared to pay for it and when the bill comes you notice you are charged for octopus with sweet potato (E14)! The owners response was "I have no way of charging you for a side, and just because you didn't like the taste of the sweet potato that's not our problem".
I kid you not. I have no problem paying for what I order whether I liked it or not but I have a problem paying for something that I didn't order and was never served (octopus). This is called κλέψιμο (robbery).
Since she refused to adjust the price we just paid our bill and left, never to go back.
Save yourself time and money there are plenty of other places in the area.
(We were the only table in the...
Read moreI've never posted any review on the web about restaurants but thought that PHILIA (aka Wander by Paris) was definitely worth to start! First, if you are going to Samos (or even living on the island), you MUST visit Kokkari, then you NEED to go meet Niki & Vassilis and discover their wonderful cuisine! 🍽 The two French-Greek owners - slow food enthusiasts - have created a concise & inspiring menu, organic & locally sourced, with natural wines from their own production, to help you explore the best flavours you can expect in Samos 🇬🇷 PHILIA is definitely a not to be missed place if you want to experiment unique food, far from the common paths, with a real chef signature & philosophy which is rare on the island. Long life to PHILIA, Niki & Vassilis! 💙
PS: for the pastry addict I am, I have experienced one of the best desserts I've ever tasted! (Special mention to the Black Lemon Tart and the Olive Oil...
