Kasaoulio — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

Starting with the good stuff, the service was excellent and fast, the place looked nice, neat, tidy, the food portions are large the prices not too steep, there is plenty of space, in house parking, a playground for your kids, a sizable menu with a lot of options, plenty of space between tables. The not so bad, bad stuff, the food taste/quality felt like it was lacking just a tiny bit. It was tasty but it didn't really have soul so to speak. Specifically i ordered a cesar's salad that was excellent, the garlic bread i didn't really like that much, i think the bread and the cheese were the problem, saganaki prawns was next and i really did not like it, i felt like i was eating raw tomato sauce with prawns, calamari with chips and tartare sauce, the tartare felt homemade which was good, the calamari felt like it was fried in very high heat very fast so it didn't have time to be coocked through and through and was kinda chewy, the pizza was good, made in front of us in a wood pizza oven, when asked for the check they brought us local raki which is always nice to drink and a desert, a big waffle with chocolate and icecream to die for. Overall i would definitely go again and recommend it, just don't recommend the seafood as it didn't feel quite right, maybe it wasn't quite fresh, maybe it was lacking soul, maybe it wasn't the chef's best day, who knows... also there was someone that was smoking indoors next to us that really...

We visited this restaurant in Heraklion twice—first with family for lunch and then again with just my husband and our son—and both times were fantastic! The food is amazing. We had salads, pasta, and pizza, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. If you’re not too hungry, it’s definitely a good idea to share!

The staff were super friendly, the service was excellent, and the bathrooms were very clean—which is always a big plus when dining out.

But what really makes this place a winner for us are two things: The desserts! As is tradition in Greece, they offer a sweet treat on the house at the end of your meal—but here they go above and beyond. You get a proper-sized waffle with chocolate and ice cream, and if you’re a larger group, they’ll also bring a delicious slice of cheesecake. Who doesn’t love a good surprise dessert? It’s the perfect spot for families with young kids. They have a designated play area with trained staff to look after the children, so you can enjoy your meal in peace while the kids have fun. You really can’t beat that!

If you’re in the Heraklion area, this place is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be going back next time...

I would also like to give a special shout out to the Kindergarten they have. The fact that they have one made it easy for me to dine with my family, and it was great to know that my children were well taken care of while I enjoyed my meal.
