I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kalliotzina, a charming Greek restaurant tucked away in the heart of Lerapetra. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance that set the stage for a truly memorable dining experience.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the shrimp soup—a dish that left a lasting impression on my taste buds. As a seafood lover, I've had my fair share of shrimp-based dishes, but the soup at Kalliotzina took me on a delightful journey of flavors that I won't soon forget.
The shrimp soup was a perfect balance of rich flavors and aromatic spices. The broth was a symphony of fresh ingredients, perfectly complementing the succulent shrimp swimming within. Each spoonful offered a burst of flavors, with hints of garlic, herbs, and a touch of tanginess that added depth to the dish.
The quality and freshness of the ingredients used in the shrimp soup were evident in every bite. The shrimp were plump, juicy, and cooked to perfection, retaining their natural sweetness. It was clear that the chefs at Kalliotzina take great pride in sourcing the finest ingredients to ensure an exceptional dining experience.
Aside from the outstanding shrimp soup, Kalliotzina's menu showcases a wide array of authentic Greek dishes that cater to all palates. From traditional moussaka to grilled octopus, each dish is crafted with care and attention to detail, staying true to the essence of Greek cuisine.
The service at Kalliotzina was impeccable, with the staff displaying genuine warmth and hospitality. Their knowledge and passion for the food shone through, as they were more than happy to offer recommendations and ensure that every aspect of my dining experience...
Read moreMy partner and I are locals and we have eaten at many Cretan restaurants. This one was recommended to us by friends and unfortunately we were disappointed by the experience.
To start we ordered the cabbage salad and Dakos which we were very pleased by. The portion size was good and the flavours delicious. We then ordered tsipoura and the shrimp risotto. The tsipoura came to us completely burned so we sent it back to get a new one grilled. The second one came back after we had finished eating… so we were too full to enjoy it… but sending food out like this is not acceptable. The risotto had good flavours but was slightly undercooked.
The service here left much to be desired. We sent the bread back but still almost got charged for it-and we ask for fries instead of salad with the tsipoura which still came out wrong…
The prices are mid range but you can still find cheaper prices for the same dishes in the area…certainly with the prices they have here the service and food should have been much better than they were.

Read more(This review is not about the food served there as I have tasted the food and it's well above average).Drove all the way from Agios Nikolaos with my elderly parents so we can enjoy the food. I left the car right outside, so my mum who uses walking aids, can cross over easily. Upon seeing us, a lady came and very ubruptly said: "if you are coming here, just go away. I have a christening taking place and the place is closed for everyone else". She then turned her back and walked away. I found this extremely disappointing, as they could have easily kept some tables free for us, regular customers. A little empathy, would have also gone a long way... My mum was shaken from that response and I was also astounded. For this very reason, I give this place a low review. Before you go, just call to ensure if there is a christening, or any other social gathering, as if there is, we are clearly not welcomed. Luck was with our side though, as because of this, we had to eat to the place next door, "stravodoxari" which turned out to be way better and I shall...
