“I came as a guest and left as a friend.”
This taverna is one of the most beautiful places on Ios – perfectly located with a stunning view over the sea, a spot where you immediately feel at home.
By my second visit, Kyriakos already knew my drink – sparkling water, half liter of wine, and ice cubes – and if necessary because of being durty, he recommended a local beer. This attention to detail, combined with the warmth of the entire team, makes every visit special.
The daily changing menu features homemade dishes prepared in the family kitchen – which you are even welcome to visit. From traditional tzatziki with fresh bread, to souvlaki, to freshly caught fish – here you can taste the love and craftsmanship in every bite.
A place to enjoy, to relax, and to meet people you’ll never forget.
Ανυπομονώ να ξανασυναντηθούμε σύντομα. (I look forward to seeing you...
Read moreThe prices are quite high for very small dishes. Especially the tzaziki was ridiculously tiny for 4 euros (most other traditional tavernas we have been in charge 3-3.50€ and have double the size). Same for the fried squid / kalamari for 10€. Food quality was moderate
But the most disturbing thing was that they charged almost 2 euros more on the bill for the wine than it was supposed to cost (was about 7.60 for 1 litre of house wine on the menu, on the bill it said 9.40 instead) and that they charged us 1.20 for the bread that we did not even touch once.
We paid disappointed giving almost no tip without discussing. It's not about the 3 euros extra, it's about feeling ripped off in what is supposed to be a friendly local family taverna. I would rather recommend eating in one of the tavernas at the port main square, it's cheaper, better and without...
Read moreWithout a doubt the best traditional Greek food on ios. We’ve eaten in every restaurant on the island and nothing comes close to Polydoros. Traditional tavernas are becoming very rare on ios and if you’re visiting the island, put this place on your ‘must eat there’ list. Even though as a tourist you may be given a menu, the informal thing to do is to go into the kitchen and you will be shown exactly what they have. Some days they cook different dishes aside from those on the menu. ALL the food is delicious and very good value considering the quality(locally sourced organic vegetables and meat). Lunchtime is very chilled and you can relax in an authentic taverna listening to traditional music. Evenings get abit busier and equally atmospheric. The owners and staff greet you warmly and service is always super efficient and friendly. Highly...
