Must visit family owned fish restaurant in Kalalmata. As a traveler, I always try to visit places where local go. This is a place in Kalamata, a bit far away from the main tourist area, but worth the effort. We specifically made a plan to have an early dinner /late lunch in Kalamata, and we weren't disappointed. Restaurant is managed by a family , father is a fisherman, mother is cooking and sons are running the restoraunt. From boat to table, all fresh from the catch of the same day, what you got this morning, that what you eat. We came relatively late, around 5 PM, so they first apologized that not all the menu is available, and took us to the kitchen to see what left. We ordered almost all what was left+ some wine, salad, bread, and Ouzo. Although we ordered food for 3 hungry men, we couldn't stop and left the bones like a group of hungry cats. All was perfectly grilled ,fresh, and delicious. Fried potatoes were cut by hand. Every piece has its own shape, like your grandmother cooks for you. All is tasty and authentic. The bill in the end was 2 times less than we expected for such amount of food. Some of the portions were for free as a complimentary , and the guy who runs the restaurant gave us a giveaway present ( copper cup for wine serving). Thank you very much for such a great...

First thing first is that all waiters are friendly, kind and welcoming .
Second, the food was so good. Before we were seated, the waiter kindly briefed us about the fish he had available and asked us if that was ok with us. We ordered a Greek salad, a local dish of squid (kind of stew mixed with vegetables) that was beyond delicious. A grilled red snapper, homemade French fries. It was wrapped with a complementary watermelon. The prices are very good vs the quality of food and freshness of ingredients they offer. Definitely coming back here before we...
Read moreMouria is unique, simple as that. The seafood is superb. But it is the style of Mouria that attracts me the most: it is as if clock has stopped at 1980. The chairs are almost in the middle of the road, the decoration is.. I don't know, is the there any decoration? But who cares? The fact that it is located in a place that is not ideal for a tavern, not easily accessible but she is always full of people, proves that it worths it a try. It is so popular that you may wait to have a seat. But for some reason you will also enjoy waiting! I suppose because everything in Mouria is pure, real and original. So...
