Maria Restaurant Platanos Skalia — Restaurant in Municipality of Kalymnos

Fantastic small plates, and an octopus which was excellent ! Reading previous reviews, obviously some people they cannot distinguish fresh octopuses from frozen ones .

The dishes were large enough, fried potatoes were real ones , and not frozen. The beer was as cold as it can be, and the Greek salad, was fresh and just made. (and not prepared hours ago, like in some other restaurants).

The surrounding area is one of the few in Greece, that you can still find with an old tree, and a spring with running water. It offers a fantastic view of the Telendos and Kalavros islands.

I think it offers one of the best views in the island, without cars, and noisy scooters.

Prices were pretty much ok, and the waiters are very friendly. Dishes, glasses, and all the kitchenware is obviously brand new, so obviously nothing to complain here, on the contrary I have to congratulate them.

It might get crowed some hours, but the staff made all efforts to accommodate us for this, despite arriving kind of...

Went for lunch and dinner multiple times while staying in Skalia for a few weeks - the family that runs this restaurant is very nice and their grilled meat is superb. We had mixed grill multiple times and they were perfect always. The shrimp pasta and goat in tomato sauce were also must-tries. The location is excellent, in a quiet terrace, very unique...

Cute local restaurant wrapped around an old tree. Parking is just on the main road.

The garlic prawns were very good, as was the chicken souvlaki. The tzatziki was amazing (served with the souvlaki).

There was some traditional live music on and lots of locals dancing on a Saturday night.
