TAVERNA PERDIKA- Κωστάκης — Restaurant in Municipality of Karpathos

The people were polite and the food was decent. The prices are normal and no complaints so far. Then why the 3 stars? Two things:

Mostly because of the bad toilets. The flush wasn't working and the tap has seen better days. The toilet seat cap (the one you are supposed to sit on) wouldn't stay up. Also, only one toilet is present. On the plus side, they had soap and toilet paper. Flies. Lots of flies that make eating uncomfortable. Probably not much you can do about that, but it takes away from the experience.

We enjoyed our first time in Taverna Perdika in Menetes. The location is convenient as it is in the center of village, close to beautiful church. Warm atmosphere, as in a Greek family. Restaurant is run by a family who takes care of the cooking. Food was delicious, the portions of the dishes were more than normal (dish of souvlaki with potatoes, salad and tzatziki, very satisfying) for us, service was very good. I did not expect it, but I enjoyed the best food I had in Karpathos. Much better than the most recommended other places, which in fact were somewhat of a disappointment. I had lamb in the oven and my wife had young goat “stifado”style. And Greek salad. The service was fast and the personnel cheerful even when the place was busy. Good old standard Greek restaurant, value-for-money. Mind you, the food is how a Greek mom would cook it, not the kind you have a fancy waiter to explain to you what...
