Taverna Lefteris — Restaurant in Municipality of Kissamos

Outstanding experience – highly recommend!

We had breakfast here as often as we could, and it was always a delight. They offer a variety of options, including sweet breakfasts with bread and marmalade, as well as the authentic Cretan breakfast. The Cretan breakfast was incredible! We had fresh tomatoes, the best Cretan cheese, bread, plenty of olive oil, yogurt with honey, and a selection of drinks like mountain tea and various coffees. Everything was always fresh and sourced from the local area, which made it even more special.

The outdoor seating is plentiful, and the view of the mountains is breathtaking - the perfect spot to start the day. This breakfast gave us the energy for a full day of swimming or hiking - we didn’t need anything else until dinner.

The family running the place is wonderful. The daughter, mother, and father all ensure the breakfast is equally fantastic, with the daughter being fluent in English and exceptionally kind and helpful. She even recommended a beach that turned out to be one of our favorites.

First time we got to taverna Lefteris was half by mistake: We were looking for a nice place to eat and didn’t realize the ride (which turned out to be very beautiful) would be about 40 minutes from Kissamos. As it happened, it was the first day of the season – lucky us! Never mind that, soon as we saw the amazing view from the taverna we knew we were in for a treat. As it was the first day of the season. Menu was limited. However, everything we ordered was wonderful and Andra’s service beyond reproach. When we learned they also have rooms we’ve made ourselves a promise to return and stay overnight. Well, we just did, and the experience just enhanced. The rooms are basic, but very clean and we didn’t feel anything was missing. And the food, oh the food! No point going into specific dishes, as everything was delicious. Manolis and Andra are cooking traditional dishes (with local touches passed to Manolis through generations). We've been to the Taverna Lefteris twice and both times it was really good. From the start we were welcomed very friendly by the waitresses/team. The food was delicious (especially the rice filled zuccini flowers and the Dakos) We asked about the surroundings and where to go and they gave us good tips and over all a warm hospitality.

Even with a small staff they always keep on being super nice and serve you on time what is highly respectable.
