We went to this restaurant because it’s recommended everywhere as one of the best in Kythira. The food itself was very good, no complaints there, but the service left us really disappointed.
From the moment we arrived, I had a bad feeling. The owner was extremely kind and welcoming to foreign tourists, but not at all the same with us. When we got there, there were only a few tables ahead of us, yet he immediately told us we’d have to wait one hour. Honestly, it felt like he wanted us to leave. We even considered going somewhere else, but within minutes four tables became free and suddenly we were seated — so clearly it was never going to be a one-hour wait.
The food came quickly and was delicious, but when it was time to pay, things got even worse. We were given a “bill” without a total and without a proper breakdown of the dishes. Since the daily specials don’t even have prices on the menu, we couldn’t tell what we were actually paying for. On top of that, the number of dishes written didn’t even match what we had ordered. When my partner went inside to pay and asked for clarification, they had charged us for both a salad and a separate feta, even though we had ordered one choriatiki salad with the feta on the side (because he doesn’t eat it). Instead of calmly checking, a woman came out and started screaming at him. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary.
What struck me the most is how different this felt compared to everywhere else we ate on the island. In every other place, the service was warm, calm, and friendly, and the food was amazing — we could actually enjoy our meals in peace. Here, it was the complete opposite: people running around, shouting, rushing from one table to another. There was no calmness at all, and it made it impossible to relax and enjoy the food.
In the end, they corrected the bill, but the whole thing left such a bitter taste. To make matters worse, I saw other tables being served complimentary yogurt at the end — but nothing for us. Small detail, yes, but it only confirmed how differently we were treated.
So yes, the food is good, but for me that doesn’t matter anymore. I left feeling unwelcome, stressed, and honestly a bit insulted. I wouldn’t go back, no matter how many sites...
Read moreWe read about Pierros and decided to try it just on the first evening since we stay in Livadi and we were tired from driving and boat from Neapoli.
We were really happy from the first moment: met Manolis , the owner with his warm smile, who goes around the tables, talks , explains, recommends dishes in a nice, gentle way.
We ordered two starters and two main dishes, came very fast, big portions, super fair prices and a dessert on the house.
So, after two days , we returned, still a great dinner; we ordered two different starters, a special dish ( lahanodolmades/cabbage leaves stuffed with minced meat and rice cooked in a light sauce) and half a kilo of really really fresh red mullet fish ( barbounia) fried. FANTASTIC. Of course at the end a dessert and two small local drinks on the house, all together for 35 euros...
We will def return a...

When we arrived, we were shown to the kitchen, where the dishes of the day were introduced to us. We had seasonal boiled vegetables, roasted red peppers and salad with grilled cheese for starters; slow cooked beef in tomato sauce with potatoes and moussaka for mains. The food was so delicious— every dish was exceptional. Dessert was fresh yoghurt topped with biscuit crumbs with kytherian honey. It was so good that we licked the plates clean!
Overall, Pierros Restaurant is one of the best restaurants on the island. Extremely delicious food which come at reasonable prices, excellent hospitality and great atmosphere. Instead of a restaurant, the owners make you feel like you’re a guest eating at their home. I would highly recommend everyone to visit the restaurant if they...
