When words are not enough to describe this food experience, then you are at Serza! We visited this by the sea restaurant twice, for launch and for dinner. In both occassions, we were delighted from their welcoming and kind personell and their top quality delicious dishes!
As the owners explained us "Serza" means "hands" in the local dialect and they put their name to the test, since all local ingredients and dishes are handled with care!
Daily fresh baked bread for dipping to fish roe or herring roe cream, is the perfect appetizer. We loved their delicious salad with string beans, apricot and roasted almonds and we were blown away with the fried anchovies with raisins and rosemary! The octopus with chickpeas, the grilled amberjack and the grilled baraccuda were top notch options during our meals! We tasted both their galaktompoureko/kantaifi and their chocolate with hazelnuts and cardamon ice cream desserts, which could be present in each top level pastry shops, they were the perfect closure of this food experience!
Last to mention their great wine list, with excellent selections from Greek and European vineyards!
In overall, Serza is true to their moto "good food, good wine, good people". A trully mediterranean cuisine gem, that shouldn't be missed!
If the beautiful island of Leros had nothing more to provide , Serza would be always the...
Read moreI must start by saying this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in my life. As I am pregnant and suffering from severe nausea, I had to rest at the hotel. That’s why we arrived one hour late for our reservation. Out of courtesy, I didn’t want to cancel it. As soon as we sat down, the owner of the restaurant approached us and pointed out that we were an hour late. I explained the situation, but he shrugged and said it wasn’t his problem — that we would only have one hour to eat. We were shocked by this attitude. My husband wanted to leave immediately, but I suggested we stay and eat quickly out of politeness. When we tried to order dessert, resturants owner told, “Only if you have time left.” Additionally, one of the items we ordered was forgotten.
Speaking in this manner to a pregnant woman is incredibly upsetting. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed that most of the guests were Turkish. I would never never recommend this place to anyone — not to my contacts in Turkey, nor to anyone planning to visit this island. It was truly a terrible example of restaurant management.
In Leros, most restaurant owners are extremely kind.If you’re looking to have a pleasant evening, I strongly suggest exploring other dining options...
Read moreThe food here is miles ahead of other restaurants on the island. Best food and bread we had on Leros (my favorite dish was the raw fish with fig and cilantro). Having said that, we didn’t think the dessert with white chocolate and “crumble” with nectarine and ice cream was good - that one needs work, though the presentation was lovely. I would also recommend they ask customers if they want anything else after the main course instead of just bringing the check. We assumed there was no dessert or coffee because we were given the check without being offered anything else. Lastly, they have a problem with bees and we spent at least 45 minutes with 6+ bees circling us and our food (eventually they burned coffee next to our table, which helped, but that was overwhelming smell wise while eating). All the tables around us had the same problem. Would recommend looking into whether the beehive can be safely moved elsewhere by an expert. The service was excellent, wine list great, and I appreciated how clean the...
