We were recommended this restaurant by our apartment owner. We decided to take his advice, and take a drive out to this taverna. It was quite off the beaten track. We parked in a small square near a church and walked the last 300m. The taverna itself doesn't look very big from the street view, but it's quite large inside, with a large seating area outside too. It was a Sunday evening and we were out quite early, so there was no one else in the restaurant, but we had the pick of the tables. We decided to sit outside, under the vine trees. For our appetisers we ordered the local bread and tzatziki and the stuffed vine leaves. For mains we ordered the beef stifado and lamb chops. Everything was freshly cooked to order and was very tasty and flavourful. The beef was so tender it just fell apart, and the lamb chops were so juicy it was heaven. At the end of our meal, we were brought a complimentary plate with a trio of small desserts and small bottle of raki. Very unexpected but delightful. Each of the desserts were amazing, beautifully decadent chocolate cake, sweet and nutty halvah and honey sweet melopita. Through the evening, other people came to the restaurant and sat outside to enjoy the warm evening and the beautiful sunset. A really enjoyable evening, with fantastic food and...

Fantastic authentic Cretan Taverna. Although service was a little bit slow on this busy night (the restaurant was completely full, and they actually had to bring out an extra table from inside to accommodate us, all the while explaining to us that they were short staffed and we would experience a bit of a wait) the food, apologies and a round of free drinks more than made up for the slow service. This restaurant does things right. First of all, there's no menu, whatever dishes they cooked that day is what you get to choose from. We ordered one of everything, but unfortunately they had ran out of gemista and kokinisto so we had to settle for Tsigaristo (9), Moussaka (10), Greek salad (9), dolmadakia (9) and greek french fries (9*). Everything was outstanding, especially the moussaka. They also gave us raki and dessert on the house that was good, but not great. The whole dinner for 4 including 2 litres of wine and 8 beers was 100 euros which is a great bargain for what we got. One last thing, this place has a certain charm that's hard to describe, you sit high in the mountains overlooking the sea far below, with fruit trees hanging over top of...

🇬🇧 A little mountain taverna in Crete that feels like visiting your Greek grandma. The food here is insanely good, but it’s not just about eating — it’s about the whole vibe. The family that runs it is super friendly, warm, and makes you feel totally welcome. No tourists, no clichés — just real Cretan life. 🔥 The moussaka? Unreal. Hot, creamy, and full of flavor. 🥗 The Greek salad is the real deal. Juicy tomatoes, proper feta, and olive oil that tastes like sunshine. 🐌 Snails — YES, try them! Even if you’ve never had them before. Local style, buttery and herby. 🥃 And of course… raki. That strong local spirit made from grapes. A little fire, a lot of soul. 📍Forget fancy places — this is one is one you have to visit

Great hidden spot in the ghost town of Crete! It took us a bit of time getting there and finding it! The roads especially in the evening were a bit scary because its in a very abandoned place. We were greeted by local wild dog and it was a bit intimidating. The restaurant was closed so we had to retun next day. It was light and sunny and drive was a bit more pleasant but still a bit spooky as its a real ghost town the restaurant was great on the other hand. Lovely owners and lovely home made fresh food. We really enjoyed our experience and considering this place catering for our wedding day. Lovely views of crete too and some of the ghost town too:)) definitely worth a trip for unique and really lovely local food
